Job Description

We are looking for someone who understands that editing isn't about putting clips together. It is about knowing what to show, what to hide, when to cut and when to hold. You should have a strong sense of rhythm, pacing, composition, sound and visual storytelling. You should be able to take hours of footage and find the few seconds that make the entire film work.

Experience with Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, After Effects or equivalent is expected. Experience with colour, sound design, motion graphics and VFX is useful. But software is not the skill. Taste is.

You should watch films, advertisements, music videos, documentaries and things that probably have nothing to do with editing. You should notice why a scene works. You should know the difference between an edit that is technically correct and one that makes you feel something.

Attention to detail is essential. Patience is not optional. Expect talented, motivated, intense and interesting co-workers. Expect feedback. Expect to throw away edits you spent hours making. Expect to discover that sometimes the best cut is the one you didn't make.

This is not a role for someone who simply follows a timeline. You will be expected to tell a story.
