Daily Responsibilities of a Video Editor Intern
- Footage Handling & Organization
Import raw video footage from shoots or content teams
Organize files, clips, and assets in folders (by date/project)
Label and sort clips for easy access
Trim and cut raw footage into usable clips
Assemble video sequences as per script or instructions
Remove unwanted parts, errors, or background noise
- Adding Effects & Enhancements
Add transitions, animations, and basic visual effects
Insert text overlays, captions, and subtitles
Apply color correction and basic color grading
Sync audio with video clips
Adjust sound levels (music, voice, background)
Add background music or sound effects
- Working with Templates & Formats
Use pre-designed templates for reels, ads, or YouTube videos
Export videos in different formats (MP4, vertical reels, etc.)
Optimize videos for platforms like Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn
Work with content creators, designers, and marketing team
Take feedback and revise edits accordingly
Follow creative briefs and deadlines
Convert long videos into short clips (reels/shorts)
Resize videos (landscape to vertical)
Create thumbnails or basic visuals (sometimes)
Ensure video has no errors (audio sync, cuts, spelling mistakes)
Check resolution, frame rate, and output quality
Maintain consistency in style and branding
- Learning & Skill Development
Learn tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut, Final Cut Pro
Stay updated with editing trends (reels, transitions, memes)
Experiment with new editing styles
