Our portfolio currently focuses on pain management, supplements, and women's health, with plans to expand across key therapeutic categories.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and execution-focused Vice President Sales (West) to lead our next phase of expansion across Maharashtra and Gujarat. This is a high-ownership leadership role for someone who can help us build the business from the ground up, starting with stabilising operations in Pune and then scaling a structured sales organisation across the rest of Maharashtra and Gujarat over the next 18 months.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience leading large pharma sales teams in a top 50 pharmaceutical company, with deep exposure to Gynaecology and Orthopaedic segments, and a proven track record of managing a meaningful regional business with strong commercial discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall sales strategy and execution for Maharashtra and Gujarat
  • Stabilise the existing business in Pune/PCMC and create a strong base for regional expansion
  • Build and scale the sales organisation across the West region in a phased and disciplined manner
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performance field structure comprising: Zonal Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Area Business Managers, Territory Sales Executives
  • Drive expansion across the rest of Maharashtra and Gujarat within the next 18 months
  • Set clear sales, productivity, coverage, and collection metrics for each level of the organisation
  • Bring strong structure and discipline to the business, including: Tour plan planning and review, Reporting systems, Daily/weekly review mechanisms, Target setting and tracking, Productivity monitoring, Stockist and doctor coverage planning
  • Make senior consultant calls and help unlock high-potential accounts, institutions, and key prescribers
  • Build strong relationships across the ecosystem, including: Key doctors and consultants, Hospitals and clinics, Stockists and distributors, Channel partners across Maharashtra and Gujarat
  • Ensure smooth coordination between sales, distribution, collections, and operations
  • Monitor market execution closely and remain field-oriented, not just desk-led
  • Help create a motivated, accountable, and winning culture across the team
  • Support the company in organisation design, expansion planning, and leadership hiring
  • Work closely with management on business planning, budgeting, territory allocation, and growth strategy
  • Manage regional sales operations with strong commercial discipline and execution rigour
  • Take ownership of monthly business performance, including P&L responsibility in the range of 25 Cr per month, depending on scale and stage of growth

Candidate Profile

  • 15+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, with significant leadership experience across Maharashtra and Gujarat
  • Strong preference for candidates who have handled the full Maharashtra + Gujarat business for a top 50 pharma company
  • Proven experience in Gynaecology and Orthopaedic specialities
  • Demonstrated success in building, scaling, and managing large field teams across multiple layers of management
  • Experience managing meaningful regional business volumes and monthly P&L responsibility of 25 Cr
  • Strong network across: Doctors and KOLs, Hospitals and clinics, Stockists and distributors, Sales talent in Maharashtra and Gujarat
  • Strong field leadership with the ability to command respect and drive execution on ground
  • Excellent communication skills and high professional maturity
  • Extremely professional in: Internal communication, Email management, Follow-up discipline, Cross-functional coordination
  • Strong in: Reporting systems, Tour plan discipline, Team reviews, Operational follow-up, Execution management
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and high ownership
  • Able to build systems and structure from scratch, not just manage an already mature organisation
  • Strong people leader who can motivate teams, build confidence, and maintain accountability
  • Comfortable with regular travel across Maharashtra and Gujarat
  • Based in Pune preferred, though Mumbai may also be considered
