The Opportunity

Raise the technical bar, instill disciplined engineering practices, strengthen product partnership, and elevate the Bangalore center alongside an existing leadership team. This is a collaborative leadership role focused on building a next-generation engineering organization that delivers measurable business value and accelerates Alegeus strategy.

A successful leader must be prepared to collaborate with peers and materially improve the following areas:

  • Talent quality & hiring discipline: Implement rigorous hiring practices, raise the talent bar, and strengthen engineering depth across all roles.
  • Urgency & accountability: Shift the mindset from activity-based to outcome-driven delivery with a culture of commitment.
  • Engineering maturity: Advance the organization from a service-provider approach to a true product-engineering model with business value alignment.
  • End-to-end ownership: Reinforce understanding of why features matter, not just what is being built.
  • Mature the Quality discipline: Strengthen QA strategy, automation, test frameworks, and release reliability.
  • Partner with leadership to drive platform modernization: Support re-architecture, API evolution, data modernization, and cloud-native enablement.
  • AI adoption: Apply AI across product capabilities and engineering workflows to improve quality and reduce cost.

Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Co-lead engineering and QA teams with existing India VP leadership, ensuring alignment and shared accountability.
  • Drive urgency, ownership, and disciplined execution across the engineering organization.
  • Improve delivery predictability and establish clear goals, KPIs, and operating rhythms.

Product Partnership

  • Work with product management to translate priorities into actionable engineering plans.
  • Ensure teams understand business value, user needs, and partner ecosystem requirements.
  • Contribute to new product development and platform modernization roadmaps.

Technical Excellence

  • Provide architectural and technical guidance across APIs, data, web systems, and cloud-native designs.
  • Improve engineering quality through stronger design reviews, coding standards, automation, and SDLC practices.
  • Engage hands-on in deep technical reviews and problem solving as needed.

AI & Modern Engineering Practices

  • Promote adoption of AI-enabled engineering tools and workflows.
  • Support the development of AI-driven features and data-powered product capabilities.
  • Foster continuous improvement, experimentation, and innovation.

People, Culture & Talent

  • Build a high-performance engineering culture rooted in ownership, accountability, and excellence.
  • Partner with India leadership on hiring strategy, capability development, and succession planning.
  • Manage performance rigorously and strengthen the engineering and QA leadership bench.

Operational & Financial Management

  • Support engineering budget planning, resource allocation, and operational governance.
  • Improve engineering KPIs, delivery metrics, and cross-team operational effectiveness.
  • Optimize cost structure while improving velocity and product quality.

Global Collaboration

  • Partner closely with US-based product and engineering leaders to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
  • Strengthen communication, planning, and coordination across time zones and product lines.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Leadership & Organization

  • 15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience across Engineering Manager, Director, and VP roles.
  • Proven ability to scale engineering organizations from 20 to 50100+, including hiring, organizational design, and leadership development.
  • Experience operating within a multi-VP or matrixed leadership structure, collaborating rather than operating as the sole executive.
  • Demonstrated success building high-performance, accountable engineering cultures.

Product & Engineering Execution

  • Deep experience leading product-engineering teams delivering commercial software (SaaS preferred).
  • Strong track record driving predictable delivery and managing complex roadmaps.
  • Effective partner to Product Management in prioritization, planning, and value-based decision-making.

Technical Expertise

  • Hands-on background earlier in career as a developer or architect.
  • Experience modernizing legacy systems, including architecture upgrades, API evolution, UI/UX modernization, cloud migration, and data modernization.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, modern web and data technologies, security fundamentals, and operational readiness.

Quality & SDLC Maturity

  • Experience maturing QA functions, automation frameworks, and quality governance.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, observability, SRE principles, and production operations.

AI & Data Experience

  • Experience leading teams that delivered AI-enabled product capabilities (e.g., automation, classification, extraction, personalization).
  • Practical exposure to implementing AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Operational & Financial Acumen

  • Experience contributing to budget planning, capacity management, and operational governance.
  • Ability to establish engineering metrics, KPIs, and governance frameworks.

Global Collaboration

  • Experience leading and/or partnering with engineering teams across multiple countries, including cross-time-zone execution.

Domain Experience (Preferred but not required)

  • Exposure to banking, payments, healthcare, or regulated markets.

  • Predictable, high-quality delivery across modernization and product roadmap initiatives.
  • Improved engineering culture with urgency, ownership, and measurable accountability.
