Job Description

A reputable and established international bank is urgently looking for a VP/Director - Governance Planning Group hire in their Singapore office. The role covers Asia growing markets, predominantly Indonesia.

  • Experience in credit risk policy and strong understanding of consumer finance products

Main responsibilities: -

  • Oversee the end-to-end risk management framework and operational controls for overseas subsidiaries, with specialized ownership of credit risk for consumer finance operations across South-East Asia (focusing heavily on Indonesia).
  • Partner with local entities to modernize credit risk practices and frameworks, aligning regional operations with global standards while delivering hands-on support for business innovations.
  • Coordinate across 1st and 2nd lines of defense and global stakeholders to execute comprehensive risk reviews, remediate portfolio vulnerabilities, and drive sustainable growth.
  • Conduct rigorous risk evaluations for new consumer finance products and services while auditing the effectiveness of internal control mechanisms.
  • Implement ongoing enhancements to banking processes to optimize internal controls and deliver timely, accurate risk reporting to senior management.
  • Track key performance indicators to maintain robust risk-control environments and lead strategic initiatives, including due diligence, project management, and post-merger integration.

Main requirements:-

  • Bachelor's degree paired with a minimum of 10 years of banking and finance experience, with a core focus on credit risk management and internal controls.
  • Direct expertise in consumer finance credit risk—encompassing risk assessment, data analysis, reporting, and process enhancement—backed by a comprehensive understanding of regional operations.
  • Hands-on experience managing risk and control frameworks across overseas subsidiaries.
  • Deep subject-matter expertise in consumer finance products and regional credit risk dynamics across South-East Asia, with a strong emphasis on the Indonesian market.
  • Advanced capability in early risk identification, root-cause analysis, and the deployment of robust control frameworks and corrective action plans.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and logical reasoning aptitude.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently under tight timelines.
  • Proactive mindset geared toward continuous improvement, adaptability, and the implementation of value-adding innovations within control environments.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including executive-level presentation abilities and cross-cultural stakeholder management.
  • Full professional proficiency in English, complemented by working proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia or Malay to facilitate daily collaboration with the Indonesian entity.
