Key Responsibilities

  • Outsourced development / Working with outside teams
  • Reviewing outsourced work and stack
  • Team management of 12-15 size
  • Comfortable with having direct discussions with the infra/tech team of customers
  • Time split – 80% engaging with internal stakeholders, 20% customer engagements
  • Engineering Leadership: Lead and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team,
  • including full-stack developers, UI/UX developers, backend developers, database
  • administrators, QA teams, and team leads.
  • Technical Strategy: Define and execute the technical strategy to support the
  • development and delivery of high-quality products that are scalable, secure, and have
  • a bar for high performance.
  • Team Building: Recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent, fostering a culture of
  • innovation, continuous learning, and excellence.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head of Product Management to align
  • engineering efforts with product goals, with timely delivery of features and
  • enhancements.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and optimize engineering processes, tools, and
  • methodologies to increase efficiency and quality across the development lifecycle.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to
  • engineering teams, implementing best practices in software development,
  • architecture, and quality assurance.
  • Budget Management: Manage the engineering budget, with cost-effective use of
  • resources while delivering on technical objectives.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks, resulting in robust architecture
  • and systems that support the division's long-term goals.
  • Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices,
  • driving continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with senior leadership, providing regular
  • updates on engineering progress, challenges, and opportunities. Occasional
  • Collaboration with external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Experience: 12+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing engineering teams.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in full-stack development, infrastructure, database designs and management, and QA methodologies, with a strong understanding of modern technology stacks and frameworks.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams, with a focus on delivering high-quality products in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Collaboration: Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with product management, design, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and present complex information clearly.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
