Role Overview
Responsible for defining and executing a multi-year Quality Engineering (QE) strategy aligned to business priorities. The role leads enterprise-wide quality transformation across cloud, platforms, DevSecOps, and AI-enabled engineering, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational resilience, and measurable business outcomes.
Strategy & Operating Model
- Define and execute a multi-year QE strategy aligned with business and technology priorities
- Establish and operate a QE Centre of Excellence covering test architecture, tooling, data, environments, and non-functional engineering
- Build and scale a unified quality platform including environment management, environment-as-a-service, unified reporting, and AI-enabled accelerators
- Embed quality gates into DevSecOps pipelines and champion shift-left and shift-right testing practices
- Drive adoption of advanced testing approaches such as contract testing, chaos and resilience testing, and canary and A/B validation
Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Orchestrate quality for cloud migration and modernisation initiatives across public cloud, containers, and serverless platforms
- Ensure validation of infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code aligned to SRE principles and service-level objectives
- Govern non-functional requirements including performance, reliability, resilience, security, accessibility, and cost efficiency at platform scale
AI Enablement & Responsible Use
- Introduce and scale AI and ML capabilities within QE including test generation, impact analysis, defect analytics, and flakiness reduction
- Establish governance frameworks for AI-assisted quality tools ensuring auditability, data privacy, IP protection, and ethical use
- Validate AI models for bias, robustness, and operational risk in line with enterprise controls
Delivery Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead a portfolio of programmes across Investment, Distribution, and Corporate domains with outcome-driven roadmaps
- Manage complex multi-vendor ecosystems with clear governance using SLAs, SLOs, OKRs, and transparent performance dashboards
- Act as senior escalation point for critical incidents and complex delivery risks, driving root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation
People, Culture & Ways of Working
- Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing community of SDETs, test architects, and quality leaders
- Drive continuous upskilling in cloud, security, data, and AI engineering practices
- Promote inclusive leadership, experimentation, and continuous improvement aligned with organisational values
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal risk controls across software and data changes
- Embed evidence-based quality assurance to support audits and regulatory reviews

Experience & Education
- 18+ years of experience in QA/QE with 8+ years leading large-scale, multi-vendor engineering organisations
- Proven experience transforming QE in regulated Financial Services, Asset Management, or Capital Markets environments
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling QE Centres of Excellence and delivering measurable business outcomes
- Graduate degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related discipline
- ISTQB or equivalent certification preferred
