Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Roorkee for a Vice Chancellor. The Vice Chancellor will provide strategic leadership and management to advance the university's vision and educational goals. Responsibilities include overseeing academic and administrative operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, fostering faculty development, promoting quality research, driving industry collaborations, and enhancing the university's reputation on a national and international scale. The Vice Chancellor will work closely with faculty, staff, and key stakeholders to implement policies and strategies that benefit the student community, faculty, and the overall vision of the university.

Qualifications (As per UGC Norms - CSE/ECE Focus)

  • Strong leadership and organizational capabilities, with demonstrated experience in strategic planning, academic governance, team building, and evidence-based decision-making in higher education institutions.
  • In-depth academic expertise in Computer Science / Information Technology / Electronics & Communication Engineering, with substantial experience in academic administration, faculty development, curriculum design, outcome-based education (OBE), and implementation of NEP-2020 guidelines.
  • Proven track record in teaching and research, consistent with UGC norms, including:
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science / Electronics & Communication / allied engineering discipline from a recognized university.
  • Minimum teaching and research experience as prescribed by UGC for the concerned academic leadership position.
  • Publications in UGC-CARE / Scopus / Web of Science indexed journals, patents, funded projects, or notable research contributions.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote high-quality research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, including:
  • Establishment of research groups, centers of excellence, incubation cells, or innovation hubs.
  • Experience in securing research grants from AICTE, UGC, DST, MeitY, SERB, DRDO, or other recognized agencies.
  • Active engagement in consultancy, sponsored research, and industry-driven projects.
  • Strong industry-academia linkage exposure, with experience in:
  • Designing industry-aligned curricula in areas such as AI, Data Science, Cyber Security, IoT, VLSI, Embedded Systems, Communication Systems, Cloud Computing, etc.
  • Collaborations with reputed industries, startups, and professional bodies for internships, training, and placements.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public-relations skills, with the ability to:
  • Represent the university in academic, professional, accreditation, and regulatory forums.
  • Interact effectively with regulatory bodies such as UGC, AICTE, NAAC, NBA, and other statutory authorities.
  • Build productive relationships with students, faculty, alumni, industry partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in university / institutional administration is highly desirable, including roles such as Dean, Head of Department, Controller of Examinations, IQAC member, NAAC/NBA coordinator, or statutory committee member.
  • Working knowledge of accreditation and quality frameworks, including NAAC, NBA, NIRF, OBE, Academic Audits, and digital governance systems, will be considered an added advantage.
