Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership & Product Validation

  • Design, implement, and supervise field feeding trials for canine and feline nutrition products.
  • Monitor palatability, digestibility, stool quality, coat condition, weight management, activity levels, and overall animal performance during trials.
  • Collect, consolidate, and scientifically analyze trial data and customer feedback.
  • Develop technical reports and present findings to senior management.
  • Identify formulation gaps, performance limitations, and opportunities for product enhancement.
  • Collaborate with formulation and R&D teams to improve nutritional performance and market competitiveness.
  • Support development of therapeutic, functional, and life-stage nutrition products.

2. Customer & Market Feedback Management

  • Establish structured systems for gathering breeder, veterinarian, retailer, distributor, and pet parent feedback.
  • Analyze complaints, field observations, and product performance trends.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis on technical issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Track competitor product performance and emerging nutritional trends.
  • Translate field intelligence into commercially viable product improvement initiatives.

3. Manufacturing & Production Supervision

  • Provide technical oversight during production of pet food products.
  • Ensure manufacturing processes align with nutritional specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor ingredient quality, production consistency, and finished product compliance.
  • Work closely with QA/QC and operations teams to maintain product integrity.
  • Support troubleshooting of production-related nutritional or palatability challenges.
  • Assist in establishing SOPs, feeding guidelines, and technical manufacturing protocols.

4. Technical Support to Sales & Marketing Teams

  • Train sales teams, distributors, and channel partners on product positioning, nutritional science, and competitive differentiation.
  • Conduct technical seminars, veterinary meets, breeder workshops, and educational programs.
  • Support key customer meetings with technical expertise and product recommendations.
  • Assist marketing teams with scientifically accurate technical content, claims substantiation, brochures, and educational materials.
  • Address technical queries from veterinarians, breeders, distributors, and consumers.

5. Business Development & Commercial Contribution

  • Act as a senior technical-commercial representative for the company in domestic and international markets.
  • Build relationships with veterinarians, breeders, pet specialty retailers, distributors, and institutional customers.
  • Identify new market opportunities, product gaps, and strategic partnerships.
  • Support expansion into new geographies and therapeutic nutrition categories.
  • Participate in trade exhibitions, conferences, veterinary events, and customer presentations.
  • Contribute to revenue growth through technical credibility and relationship management.

6. Regulatory & Compliance Support

  • Ensure technical and nutritional compliance with applicable pet food regulations.
  • Assist with label reviews, ingredient approvals, technical documentation, and product registrations where applicable.
  • Support implementation of quality assurance and food safety standards.

Preferred candidate profile

Education

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc & AH) mandatory
  • Masters degree in Animal Nutrition / Veterinary Nutrition preferred

Experience

  • 8-15 years of experience in:
