Vessel Performance Claims Manager at ZeroNorth

As the Vessel Performance Claims Manager at ZeroNorth, you'll lead the success of our maritime claims services, playing a pivotal role in accelerating our customers digitalization and sustainability goals through ZeroNorth's technology.

This position sits within our Professional Services team, reporting directly to the VP / Global Head of Professional Services. You'll lead a team of Claims analysts and specialists, acting as a trusted advisor to both internal and external stakeholders.

You'll be the crucial link between our Product and Customer Success teams and our customers, ensuring market intelligence and client feedback directly influence product development.

Beyond leading your team, you'll also be instrumental in handling complex vessel performance claims, assisting product enhancements, and engaging directly with customers on claims-related disputes.

This is a unique opportunity to drive impact at the intersection of technology, commercial performance, and sustainability in the global maritime industry.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of performance claims analysts and specialists.
  • Establish efficient workflows, clear responsibilities, and robust delivery standards for claims handling.
  • Oversee the end-to-end handling of performance claims, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and commercial soundness.
  • Act as a senior point of contact for customers in claims discussions, pushbacks, and escalations.
  • Provide strategic guidance to Customer Success and Sales teams on complex vessel performance issues.
  • Collaborate closely with the Product team to enhance claim-related tooling, reporting features, and define new value-driven services.
  • Support the drafting and review of legal responses for underperformance claims and advise on CP terms and legal interpretation.
  • Define and track service KPIs, supporting continuous improvement and best practice sharing within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Around 5 years of shore-based shipping industry experience, ideally in performance claims, operations, or maritime legal advisory.
  • Proven leadership or key management experience within a technical or legal team in a performance-focused setting.
  • Proficiency in digital technologies and data-driven tools, with a strong ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize new tech products.
  • Strong project management skills, demonstrated by a track record of successfully leading complex initiatives.
  • Solid legal knowledge of Charter Party (CP) clauses and their practical interpretations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective engagement with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and collaboratively in a cross-functional environment, even under high workload.
  • Willingness to travel as required and operate across varying shifts or time zones to meet global business needs.
