Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Vessel Performance Analyst to join a team specializing in vessel performance monitoring, maritime data analytics, fuel efficiency, and fleet optimization. The ideal candidate should have 2–5 years of relevant experience in vessel performance or maritime analytics, with a degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field. The candidate must possess strong knowledge of hydrodynamics, vessel performance modelling, Python programming, and data analytics. This is an excellent opportunity to improve fleet efficiency and support data-driven technical and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, calibrate, and maintain vessel speed-power and fuel-consumption models.
- Analyse vessel performance, hull and propeller efficiency, speed loss, and fuel consumption.
- Develop baseline performance curves using weather and sea-state corrections.
- Monitor hull fouling, coating effectiveness, drydock performance, and hull-cleaning requirements.
- Validate vessel data from noon reports, sensors, weather sources, and voyage records.
- Develop data-validation rules, anomaly detection methods, and quality-control procedures.
- Investigate data discrepancies and coordinate with vessel crews, Operations, and IT teams.
- Develop Python applications and dashboards for vessel performance, fuel efficiency, and emissions monitoring.
- Provide actionable insights to Performance, Chartering, Operations, and senior management.
- Support voyage optimisation and the integration of vessel-performance monitoring platforms.
Key Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in vessel performance, ship-performance monitoring, or maritime analytics.
- Degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or a related field with strong hydrodynamics knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with Python programming, data analysis, and dashboard development.
- Strong understanding of vessel hydrodynamics, propulsion systems, and speed-power modelling.
- Experience in fuel-consumption analysis, hull and propeller performance monitoring, and weather corrections.
- Knowledge of maritime data validation, anomaly detection, and performance reporting.
- Understanding of hull-coating economics, hull grooming, drydock planning, and hull-cleaning decisions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and operational teams.
