Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Veritas NetBackup Certified Specialist who can also manage project execution. The ideal resource must have strong expertise in NetBackup Catalog management, catalog import/export (command-level), and hands-on experience administering enterprise-class backup environments.
This role will involve onsite implementation in Chennai followed by knowledge transfer to Mumbai resources, and then relocation to Mumbai for the remaining project duration.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical (NetBackup)
- Manage, administer and optimize Veritas NetBackup environments across Linux/Unix/Windows platforms.
- Perform Catalog operations, including backup, recovery, maintenance, troubleshooting, and DR simulations.
- Execute Catalog import/export (imp/exp) at command level using utilities such as: bpcatlist, bprecover, bpimport, bpexpdate
- Handle backup/restore activities for physical servers, VMs, databases, and enterprise storage systems.
- Perform configuration, policy creation, storage unit management, and troubleshooting of backup failures.
- Work closely with storage, server, and application teams for smooth backup operations.
- Project Management
- Lead and manage the entire backup implementation project.
- Handle planning, timelines, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
- Coordinate between local Chennai team, Mumbai team, and management.
- Provide Knowledge Transfer (KT) to Mumbai resources post-implementation.
- Prepare weekly progress reports, risk logs, and project updates.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 3-7+ years of hands-on experience in Veritas NetBackup administration.
- Strong experience with NetBackup Catalog management and command-line operations.
- Experience with Catalog DR, import/export, and recovery. Proficiency in Linux/Unix command-line administration.
- Experience working in large enterprise backup environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills for project management.
Certification (Mandatory):
- Veritas NetBackup Certification (e.g., VCS, NetBackup Certified Specialist/Professional).
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to work onsite in Chennai for the first 2-3 months.
- Must be willing to relocate to Mumbai for the remaining project duration (12-13 months).
- Immediate joiners or candidates with short notice period preferred.
