Position Title: EV - Vendor Development (Mechanical Proprietary)
Reports to: Lead
Function: EV Technical
Required Mandatory Skillset:
Exp: Minimum 5-10 Years of experience in Strategic sourcing of Proprietary Parts.
Qualification: BTech / BE / Mechanical engineering
Mechanical Proprietary Part:
- Sourcing & Costing (ZBC) Activities for the Parts include Brake system, Suspension system (Front & Rear), Handlebar & Switch Cubes, Tyres, Lock sets, Mirrors, Alloy RIMs
- Supplier knowledge in Proprietary parts
- Receipt part inspection activities
- Electric vehicle parts inspection
- GD&T
- New Product Establishment
- Problem solving / Statistical Study Methods and Analysis
- Quality Management Systems
- Experience in SAP, PLM is mandatory
- Experience in Powertrain and e-mobility solutions is highly preferred
What you'll do:
Vendor Development is responsible to develop vendors ensuring adequate supply of components for existing/New products as per design changes, / capacity enhancements/ replacements within the cost, quantity and quality targets. The incumbent will lead the team and monitor vendor management, Vendor payment processing and vendor performance evaluation
- Collaborate with various teams to understand product requirements and parts specifications
- Identify potential suppliers and send RFQ to them based on part design and bill of materials received from current engineering team
- Liaise with vendors/ suppliers on a regular basis for sourcing of components and parts
- Gauge capability of suppliers by conducting design for manufacturing (DFM) discussions with suppliers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify modifications/ changes required and work towards reducing rejection rates of incoming parts
- Review order status and ensure adherence to Direct on line targets and business plan targets/vehicle
- Calculate target costing for components in collaboration with the Cost Management team and ensure that proposed suppliers meet the target band
- Evaluate performance and propose suppliers based on suitable evaluation in collaboration with the Quality Assurance team
- Provide technical guidance (mechanical and engineering feedback) to shortlisted suppliers in order to meet component reliability, supply chain efficiency and overall cost reduction
- Supervise supplier quality engineers responsible for component release; conduct component inspection audits
- Resolve quality issues and monitor corrective procedures as per guidelines specified by quality assurance
- Ensure completion of the Product Part Approval process in collaboration with Current Engineering and Quality assurance team
- Ensure a smooth handover to procurement team for sourcing material for start of production runs
