Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities:

Platform administration (L3): Own day-to-day administration, health, upgrades,

and performance tuning of Veeam Backup & Replication and supporting components

(repositories, proxies, gateways, WAN accelerators where applicable).

Backup & restore operations: Ensure successful backup execution, proactive

monitoring, failure remediation, and restore validations (file, application item-level,

VM, and full server restores).

Design & architecture: Design scalable backup architecture for VMware and AWS

including sizing, capacity planning, retention policies, immutability (hardened

repositories / S3 Object Lock where applicable), and network throughput

optimization.

Disaster recovery & recoverability: Implement and maintain VMware VM

replication and recovery workflows (failover/failback) and DR runbooks aligned to

business RPO/RTO and compliance requirements; coordinate DR tests and evidence

collection.

Commvault support: Provide administration/troubleshooting for Commvault

environments (agents, backup sets, policies, media agents, storage policies) and

support coexistence/migration scenarios where required.

Troubleshooting: Lead root cause analysis for complex backup failures, performance

bottlenecks, repository issues, and integration problems across OS, VMware vSphere

(snapshots/CBT), storage, network, and AWS connectivity/object storage layers.

Security & ransomware resilience: Implement best practices such as MFA, RBAC,

least privilege, immutable backups (e.g., hardened repositories/object lock),

encryption, credential vaulting, and separation of duties.

Automation & scripting: Automate repetitive tasks, reporting, and validations using

PowerShell and/or REST APIs; develop standard operating procedures and

automation runbooks.

Monitoring & reporting: Produce operational dashboards and reports (backup SLA,

capacity growth, job success rates, restore testing, compliance evidence) for

stakeholders.

ITSM process ownership: Drive incident, problem, and change management in

ServiceNow (mandatory); perform risk assessments and provide implementation

plans and backout procedures for changes; maintain CMDB/knowledge articles as

required.

Vendor & stakeholder management: Engage with Veeam/Commvault and

storage/hypervisor vendors for advanced support cases; coordinate across

infrastructure/app teams during restores and DR events.

Mentoring: Guide L1/L2 engineers, review configurations, and ensure operational

discipline and documentation quality.
