Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior UX Designer - Automotive HMI to craft intuitive, visually rich, and future-ready in-vehicle experiences. This role focuses on designing HMI applications for Infotainment Systems (IVI), blending usability with immersive design through animations, 3D assets, and advanced prototyping techniques.
You will play a key role in shaping next-generation cockpit experiences by collaborating with cross-functional teams across engineering, product, and design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design user-centric, safety-compliant, and distraction-minimized interfaces for in-vehicle environments
- Create high-fidelity UI/UX designs using Figma (Design, Prototype, Dev Mode, and Design Systems)
- Develop micro-interactions and motion design to enhance usability and delight
- Conceptualize and integrate 3D models and immersive visual elements into UI experiences
- Build interactive prototypes to simulate real-world IVI interactions and workflows
- Collaborate with HMI engineers, Unreal/Unity developers, and embedded teams for implementation feasibility
- Define and maintain design systems, component libraries, and UX guidelines
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and iterative design improvements
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards (driver distraction, accessibility, safety)
Required Skills & Expertise
Core UX & HMI Skills
- Strong experience in Automotive HMI / IVI UX design
- Deep understanding of in-vehicle interaction paradigms (touch, voice, gesture, rotary controllers)
- Expertise in information architecture, interaction design, and usability principles
Design & Prototyping Tools
- Advanced proficiency in Figma:
- Design Systems
- Prototyping
- Dev Mode handoff
- Variables & components
- Good to have experience with Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop)
Motion & 3D Capabilities
- Strong experience in motion design and UI animations
- Familiarity with 3D modelling tools (Blender, Maya, or similar)
- Understanding of real-time rendering engines (Unity / Unreal) is a strong plus
Technical Awareness
- Basic understanding of embedded systems (Android Automotive, QNX, Linux)
- Ability to collaborate with developers on implementation constraints and performance optimization
Good to Have
- Experience working on cluster, HUD, or multi-display automotive ecosystems
- Knowledge of design for EV-specific experiences (range, charging UX, energy flows)
- Exposure to AR/VR or immersive cockpit experiences
- Familiarity with automotive UX regulations and standards
