UAT Test Engineer / QA Test Engineer
Location: Offshore — India
Function: Quality Assurance & Testing | Manual & Semi-Automated UAT Execution
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
Sutherland is seeking UAT Test Engineers to serve as core test executors for a large UAT transformation engagement at a top-tier US prepaid wireless carrier. These engineers run scripted happy-path and negative-path scenarios via cloud Device Farm across all CX persona flows, log every defect with complete reproduction context, and execute with full independence from development input. A UAT and QA career background is required. These engineers are expected to actively use AI and GenAI tools in their UAT execution practice. Candidates with IVR and conversational AI platform testing experience — particularly on voice-native LLM agent platforms — are strongly preferred given the care and support testing scope of this engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute scripted happy-path and negative-path UAT scenarios across all CX persona flows via cloud Device Farm
- Log every defect with full reproduction context: steps to reproduce, device details, environment state, screenshots or video evidence, and defect severity
- Use AI and GenAI tools actively during UAT execution: generating defect documentation drafts, identifying missing negative-path scenarios from requirements, and synthesizing test run summaries for escalation
- Execute IVR and conversational AI UAT flows: validating intent recognition accuracy, call routing, fallback handling, escalation paths, and end-to-end care journeys on AI-powered voice platforms
- Run parallel test cycles during high-volume release periods to ensure release-gating coverage without bottlenecking the core team
- Document current-state flows and convert existing test cases into structured test tracking systems during knowledge transfer activities
- Execute from a growing UAT regression library with full independence — zero developer guidance required once test libraries are established
- Perform scripted regression execution, exploratory testing, and fix validation as the engagement matures
Required Technical Skills & Expertise
- UAT and QA test execution experience is required — developer-to-QA transitions or BA-to-testing profiles without dedicated UAT experience will not be considered
- Structured UAT test case execution: running documented test scripts rigorously and logging results with complete, structured fidelity
- Defect lifecycle management within UAT: reproduction documentation, severity triage, re-test validation, and defect closure confirmation
- Active use of AI and GenAI tools in a UAT context: ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent — for defect documentation, edge-case generation, and test run synthesis; demonstrated application in live UAT delivery required
- Cloud device farm proficiency: BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, or AWS Device Farm across Android and iOS device inventories
- Telco CX domain knowledge: prepaid wireless customer journeys including activation, port-in, payment, account management, plan changes, and support flows
- Basic API response interpretation: status codes, error messages, and system behavior indicators for root-cause identification during defect logging
- Test case management tools: TestRail, Zephyr, Xray, or equivalent
IVR & Conversational AI Testing Skills
- Hands-on experience testing IVR and AI-powered voice flows in a UAT context: intent recognition, slot filling, call routing, DTMF/voice input handling, fallback behavior, and supervisor escalation path validation
- Experience testing on one or more of the following platforms is required: Amazon Lex + Amazon Bedrock, Google CCAI (Contact Center AI), Cognigy, PolyAI, Parloa, or equivalent
- Familiarity with voice-native LLM agent platforms (real-time voice pipelines built on GPT-4o Realtime, ElevenLabs Conversational AI, Hume AI, or similar) and the specific UAT considerations they introduce: latency variance, hallucination detection, persona drift, and multi-turn dialog integrity
- Understanding of how care and support IVR flows connect to carrier backend operations: queue management, skill-based routing, agent desktop handoff, and CPNI-compliant call flow handling
- Ability to execute negative-path IVR UAT scenarios: unrecognized intents, mid-call disconnection handling, failed escalation paths, and multi-turn conversation breakdown testing
Preferred Background
- 3–5 years in UAT or QA manual testing within structured, library-driven delivery programs
- At least 1–2 years of hands-on IVR or conversational AI platform testing experience in a telecom, contact center, or enterprise CX environment
- Demonstrated use of AI or GenAI tools to improve UAT execution efficiency or defect documentation quality
- Telecom or digital subscription services UAT testing background preferred
