Job Description

About Us

Deccan AI is a San Francisco-based AI company that helps frontier AI labs and enterprises build more accurate and reliable AI systems. Trusted by organizations such as Google and Snowflake, the company improves model performance through research-grade evaluations, benchmarks, and large-scale datasets.

Deccan AI delivers mid-training and post-training solutions across agentic AI, coding, multimodal systems, model alignment, and robotics. Powered by a network of over 1.2 million experts and proprietary platforms including STARK, Helix, and EnterpriseOS, the company enables organizations to develop, evaluate, and deploy AI systems at scale.

What you'll do

  • Write realistic legal task prompts across one or more benchmark domains, based on actual legal work products such as contract reviews, litigation strategy memos, regulatory compliance assessments, legal opinions, due diligence reviews, policy analyses, or statutory interpretation exercises.
  • Prepare detailed solution logic for each task — a step-by-step explanation of the legal reasoning process leading to a Golden Answer or defensible legal conclusion.
  • Author 10-25 binary pass/fail verifiers derived from your solution (e.g., V1: Correctly identifies Section 73 as the governing provision, V2: Concludes limitation period expired on 15 July 2023 ± 1 day).
  • Create or source the data files accompanying each task (minimum 3 files per prompt), including contracts, pleadings, statutes, regulations, correspondence, policies, board resolutions, research materials, or case-law extracts.
  • Embed a realistic legal trap and relevant noise into the task package (e.g., superseded regulation, conflicting precedent, irrelevant contractual clause, outdated circular, jurisdiction mismatch).
  • Submit a Sanity Check — one paragraph explaining how a standard AI model (GPT-4o / Claude) failed the task and why a single best-supported answer exists.

What we need

  • LL.B. / B.L. with 2–6 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • Experience in at least one benchmark sub-domain through actual legal practice, advisory work, litigation, compliance, policy research, or corporate legal functions.
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian legal frameworks relevant to your domain, such as:
  • Corporate Law → Companies Act, 2013; Competition Act
  • Contract Review & Management → Indian Contract Act, 1872
  • Consumer Protection → Consumer Protection Act, 2019; Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
  • Employment & Labor Law → Labor Codes
  • Environmental Law → Environmental (Protection) Act and related statutes
  • Intellectual Property → Patents Act, Trademarks Act, Copyright Act
  • Law firm, in-house counsel, compliance, policy, regulatory, or litigation background preferred. Tasks should reflect real professional legal work rather than academic examinations.
  • Comfortable working with PDFs, contracts, court filings, regulations, policy documents, spreadsheets, and multi-file evidence sets.
  • Strong legal writing and analytical skills. Verifier authoring requires precise, objective conclusions rather than broad legal discussion.

Why Join Us

  • Competitive hourly pay: $30-$50/hour
  • Flexible project-based opportunities with global teams.
  • Work on next-generation AI solutions supporting the legal profession.

Not required: AI, coding, or technical background. Domain expertise is the primary qualification.
