About The Opportunity
Hiring for a reputable garment export house in the apparel manufacturing & export sector serving global retail and private-label brands. Two urgent on-site openings in Chennai with accommodation provided: Senior Fashion Designer (Primary) and Product Development (PD) Merchandiser.
Medico Hub is recruiting senior apparel professionals who can own design-to-delivery workflows for export-quality garmentsworking directly with sourcing, production, and overseas buyers to deliver on-time, on-spec collections.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead seasonal design and development: create moodboards, sketches, and production-ready tech packs for new collections aligned to buyer briefs and trend direction.
- Manage end-to-end product development: coordinate sampling, fit sessions, sizing/ grading and sign-off for PP/TP samples with vendors and QA teams.
- Own PD merchandising tasks: vendor liaison, fabric trims sourcing, costing, order feasibility checks and production handover for export shipments.
- Ensure technical accuracy: produce clear spec sheets, measurement charts, construction notes and fit corrections to minimise rework and lead-time slippage.
- Drive quality & compliance: monitor AQL standards, pre-production approvals and final inspections to meet buyer requirements and reduce returns.
- Mentor and coordinate cross-functional teams: guide junior designers, coordinate with production planners, and communicate with overseas buyers to resolve issues quickly.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- Minimum 10 years experience in garment design and product development for export markets (apparel/readymade garments).
- Proven experience creating production-ready tech packs and managing sampling cycles for export buyers.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
- Experience with PLM systems
- Hands-on expertise in pattern making, grading, fabric sourcing and garment costing
Preferred
- Experience with Gerber AccuMark or Lectra CAD systems
- Prior experience in an export house handling European/US retail customers
- Familiarity with AQL inspection protocols and quality compliance for exports
