UNIX Administrator
Location: Bangalore
Mode: Hybrid
Shift: Australia Shift (4:30 AM to 1:00 PM IST)
Job Description
- Administer, configure, and maintain UNIX systems, primarily HP-UX and IBM AIX
- Perform system installation, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system reliability
- Manage LVM, file systems, and disk storage allocation Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies
- Handle user management, security hardening, and compliance requirements
- Automate routine tasks using shell scripting kshbash
- Support high availability and clustering solutions e.g., Service guard, PowerHA
- Work closely with application, database, and network teams for issue resolution
- Participate in on-call support and incident management
- Strong hands-on experience with HP-UX and IBM AIX Solid understanding of UNIXLinux fundamentals
- Expertise in: LVM Logical Volume Manager File systems JFS, VxFS Networking TCPIP, DNS, NFS
- Experience with system monitoring tools and performance tuning
- Proficiency in shell scripting bash Knowledge of backup tools and disaster recovery practices Familiarity with security best practices and OS hardening
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
