We work on complex, real-world applications across sectors including Defence, Aerospace, Railways, Mining, Energy, Infrastructure, Industrial Training and Education.
We are looking for a Unity Developer Intern with strong programming fundamentals and a genuine interest in Unity, immersive technologies and simulation development.
This internship is intended for candidates who want hands-on experience building real-world VR, AR, MR and simulation applications, rather than only working on tutorial or academic projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing Unity-based VR, AR, MR, simulation and interactive 3D applications.
- Write clean and structured C# code under the guidance of senior developers.
- Develop and modify gameplay, simulation and interaction logic.
- Work with Unity components including GameObjects, Prefabs, Scenes, Physics, Animation, UI and Input Systems.
- Assist with integrating VR/MR headsets, controllers, tracking systems and other peripherals.
- Work with developers, 3D artists, UI/UX designers and QA testers to build complete applications.
- Debug and troubleshoot Unity and C# issues.
- Assist with application optimization for different hardware platforms.
- Test applications across VR headsets, PCs and other supported devices.
- Understand real-world procedures, SOPs and workflows and help translate them into interactive simulations.
- Participate in internal demonstrations, testing and project reviews.
- Maintain basic technical documentation and follow development standards.
- Learn and work with new technologies, SDKs, hardware and development workflows as required by projects.
Mandatory Technical Skills
We are looking for candidates with strong fundamentals and problem-solving ability, rather than candidates who are dependent on online resources or AI tools for basic programming tasks.
- Good understanding of C# programming.
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
- Candidates should be capable of writing, understanding and explaining fundamental C# code independently.
- Understanding of:
- Classes and objects
- Inheritance and interfaces
- Arrays, lists and collections
- Functions and methods
- Loops and conditional statements
- Exception handling
- Basic data structures
- Object-oriented programming concepts
- Basic understanding of Unity and its component-based architecture.
- Familiarity with GameObjects, Components, Prefabs and Scenes.
- Basic understanding of 3D mathematics, including vectors, rotations, transforms and coordinate systems.
- Strong logical thinking and problem-solving ability.
- Willingness to debug problems independently before seeking solutions online.
- Strong willingness to learn.
Prior professional experience is not required.
Experience through personal projects, academic projects, game development, VR/AR projects, hackathons or internships will be considered an advantage.
Experience with Unity, VR/AR/MR, OpenXR, Meta Quest, multiplayer systems, Git or hardware integrations is beneficial but not mandatory.
What We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in candidates who:
- Have strong programming fundamentals and logical thinking.
- Have built something independently, even if it is a small personal or academic project.
- Are genuinely interested in Unity, XR, simulation and real-time 3D development.
- Are curious about how systems work rather than simply following tutorials.
- Are comfortable learning unfamiliar technologies and solving problems independently.
- Are willing to receive feedback and continuously improve their code.
- Can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Take ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks.
- Are interested in working on real-world engineering, training and simulation applications rather than only conventional game development.
- Have a disciplined and professional approach suitable for working with enterprise, government and defence customers.
- Are open to reasonable travel and on-site assignments when required.
Preferred Qualifications
Students in their final year or recent graduates from:
B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech/BCA/MCA/B.Sc. Computer Science or equivalent technical programs.
Candidates from other academic backgrounds with strong C# programming skills and demonstrable Unity projects are also encouraged to apply.
Selection Process
The evaluation will focus primarily on programming fundamentals, logical thinking and learning ability rather than previous professional experience.
Candidates should expect:
- C# fundamentals assessment
- Programming and logical problem-solving exercise
- Basic Unity technical assessment
- Discussion of personal/academic projects
- Technical/final interview
Candidates may be asked to complete portions of the technical assessment without access to the internet or AI coding assistants. This is intended to evaluate core programming fundamentals and problem-solving ability rather than memorization.
What You Will Learn
During the internship, candidates will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in:
- Unity application development
- Advanced C# programming
- VR, AR and MR development
- Meta Quest and immersive hardware
- Simulation development
- Real-time 3D applications
- Hardware and software integration
- Performance optimization
- Debugging and testing
- Enterprise development workflows
- Working on real-world customer requirements and deployments
Strong-performing interns may be considered for full-time opportunities at SpatialGrid based on performance, business requirements and available positions.
On-Site & Project Exposure
SpatialGrid's primary office is based in Hyderabad, and this will be the intern's regular work location.
As we work with clients across defence, government, industrial and enterprise sectors, interns may have opportunities to participate in customer demonstrations, testing, deployments and project visits where appropriate.
Depending on project requirements, this may include exposure to customer and project locations in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and other locations across India.
Some Defence and government facilities operate within secure or restricted environments, which may include limitations on internet connectivity and personal electronic devices. Such opportunities provide exposure to specialized systems, simulation technologies and real-world operational environments that are not typically accessible through conventional internships.
Any travel or on-site participation applicable to interns will be discussed and planned based on project requirements.
