About the Opportunity
We are seeking a driven and customer-focused insurance professional to join our client's Commercial Underwriting team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of commercial risks while working closely with brokers, corporate clients and internal stakeholders to deliver profitable business growth and exceptional customer service.
You will be responsible for underwriting new and renewal business, supporting business development initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality underwriting and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, underwrite and price commercial insurance risks in accordance with internal underwriting guidelines and reinsurance arrangements.
- Manage new business, renewals and endorsements while maintaining underwriting discipline and profitability.
- Support the achievement of portfolio growth and profitability targets.
- Prepare quotations, renewal documentation and insurance summaries while proactively managing policy renewals to maximise retention.
- Provide responsive and professional service to clients, intermediaries and business partners, addressing enquiries efficiently.
- Monitor premium collections to ensure compliance with company credit control requirements.
- Prepare policy documentation, certificates, cover notes and monthly management reports.
- Assist with day-to-day operational and administrative activities to ensure the smooth running of the department.
- Participate in business improvement initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma or higher qualification in any discipline.
- Certificate in General Insurance (CGI) or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Experience in commercial general insurance underwriting
- Good understanding of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Customer-focused with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Mandarin language skills would be advantageous to support Mandarin-speaking clients.
