Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Statutory Accounts
- Prepare statutory financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP (FRS 102, FRS 105, or relevant standards).
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
- Perform detailed review of trial balances and ensure accuracy of general ledger postings.
- Prepare year-end working papers, and ensure all the balance sheet items are reconciled
- General ledger scrutiny including future transactions
2. Tax Compliance & HMRC Submissions
- Prepare corporation tax computations and CT600 returns.
- Oversee preparation and timely submission of VAT returns, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations and Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
- Support PAYE/NIC reconciliations and review payroll-related journals.
- Prepare personal tax returns (SA100) and advise clients on tax planning opportunities.
3. Team Leadership & Workflow Management
- Review work completed by junior accountants and bookkeepers, providing training and guidance where needed.
- Support development of the finance by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
- Allocate tasks, monitor timelines, and ensure high-quality output across the finance function.
4. Systems & Software Management
- Use and maintain accounting software such as VT+, Xero, QuickBooks and Sage. Knowledge of IRIS elements for account processing.
5. Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Build strong relationships with team and clients.
