The Commercial Risk Solutions - Consultant is responsible for the effective management of fiduciary ledgers and related cash operations, ensuring accurate, timely movement of funds between clients, markets and Aon entities. The role provides expert support on complex accounting and reconciliation issues, delivers high‑quality reporting and analysis to senior stakeholders, and leads or contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that reduce operational and financial risk and enhance service to internal and external stakeholders.
General description of role:
You will be a part of Aon's Commercial Risk Solutions Fiduciary Accounting Business, you will:
- Act as a subject‑matter expert for fiduciary accounting and cash management supporting Commercial Risk team.
- Lead and oversee complex premium, claim, and settlement activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with Aon's control framework and regulatory requirements.
- Take ownership of high‑value and complex accounts, proactively managing fiduciary balances, aged items, and issue resolution.
- Mentor, coach, and support Analysts and junior colleagues to build capability and ensure consistent quality of delivery.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, controls, and the overall client/market experience.
This role is critical to safeguarding the financial integrity of Commercial Risk accounts and to supporting seamless end‑to‑end client and market service.
Job responsibilities:
- Manage the interface between fiduciary accounts and business units, ensuring clear, timely communication and alignment on financial data and transactions
- Monitor aged debt and overdue balances, highlighting potential high-risk items and clients, and supporting appropriate follow-up actions.
- Act as an escalation point for critical and high-profile issues, ensuring they are managed, communicated, and resolved effectively.
- Analyse and understand internal and external accounting problems, proposing practical, well reasoned solutions.
- Identify and propose changes that will reduce operational and financial risk or improve service to internal and external stakeholders and support their implementation where appropriate.
- Proposing activities or workstreams to improve our end to end service - participate in strategic continuous improvement initiatives in the organization to help achieve identified goals.
- Delivery of high quality best in class reporting and analysis for the Fiduciary Commercial Risk team.
- Lead work to investigate, develop and implement operational improvements in the areas of technology, process and new products.
- Mentor and support junior colleagues, contribute to succession planning and talent management
- Support Senior management in relation to the delivery of business projects and initiatives, including the resolution of complex, aged or problematic issues
- Ability to process outward payments using accounting systems with interfaces to electronic banking applications. Payments will be processed in various global currencies.
- Perform bank reconciliations using bank statements/accounting systems and have confidence to discuss items with colleagues/banks, bringing up timing differences as appropriate.
- Post receipts from bank statement to ledger system maintaining accuracy with large volumes.
Skills/competencies required:
- Experience in an insurance, broking, or financial operations environment (e.g. premium/claims processing, cash allocation, reconciliations)
- Prior experience in a fiduciary, client money, or cash management role within a (re)insurance broker or insurer
- Familiarity with UK regulatory environment (e.g. FCA client money rules) and insurance market practices
- Client focused, with an understanding of the impact of fiduciary activities on overall client service
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general MS Office applications.
- Ability to work to deadlines, prioritise workload, and manage multiple tasks
- Strong analytical capability with proven experience in resolving complex reconciliation issues and data discrepancies.
- Solid understanding of fiduciary accounting principles, controls, and relevant regulatory/market requirements.
- Significant experience in insurance services, broking operations, or related financial operations experience in London Market/global placements is highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex issues clearly to both technical and non technical collaborators.
- Strong collaborator management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge constructively where needed.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage several priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
- High attention to detail and quality, particularly in financial data, reconciliations, and client/market communications.
- Proactive, problem solving attitude - anticipates issues, proposes solutions, and drives them through to resolution.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision while also contributing effectively within a team.
- Resilience under pressure and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
