About the role

We are looking for a UI/UX Developer who designs the interface and then builds it. Not a designer who hands a file to an engineer, and not an engineer who implements someone else's screens. One person carrying an idea from the first wireframe to production.

You will own three surfaces: the customer facing websites, the internal web applications the business uses every day, and the design system that holds both together. Some of it exists and needs to get better. Some of it does not exist yet and is yours to define.

This is an ownership role. You will not be handed finished specs. You will sit with the people who use the software, work out what they actually need, and decide how it should look and behave.

What you will do

• Design user flows, wireframes and high fidelity interfaces for web products
• Build those designs into production front ends with clean, responsive, accessible code
• Create and maintain a shared design system covering components, typography, spacing, colour and interaction states
• Work directly with backend developers to integrate APIs and ship features end to end
• Translate requirements from non technical teams into clear interface decisions
• Optimise for performance, mobile experience and cross browser consistency
• Improve what is already live based on how people actually use it

What we are looking for

• 2 to 5 years designing and building web interfaces, with real work in both halves
• Strong command of Figma for UI design, prototyping and component libraries
• Solid HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals, not framework knowledge sitting on thin ground
• Working experience with React and TypeScript
• Comfort with modern CSS approaches such as Tailwind, and component driven architecture
• Version control with Git and a normal collaborative workflow
• A portfolio that shows design thinking and shipped interfaces, not one or the other
• Care about typography, spacing and how product imagery sits on a page

Bonus points

• Catalogue heavy or e-commerce interfaces, where product imagery carries the design
• Animation libraries, micro interactions and motion on the web
• 3D or WebGL in the browser
• Accessibility standards and how to meet them without bolting them on at the end
• Interest in luxury, retail or fashion as a category
