Job Description

Job Title: Unified Communications (UC) Migration Engineer

Location: Chennai

Experience: 3+ years in Unified Communications (UC) with hands-on experience in migrating workloads from on-premises, legacy UC systems or carrier grade communication platforms to Cloud based UCaaS and CCaaS solutions

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced UC Migration Engineer to plan, implement and transition voice and unified communication systems from premise based or hosted solutions to cloud based UC and CC Platforms. The ideal candidate will have expertise migrating systems such as Cisco UCM, Mitel MiVoice, Avaya Aura or Cisco Broadworks to UCaaS platforms such as Cisco Webex, RingCentral, Microsoft Teams or other industry-leading solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate existing voice infrastructure, develop new solutions and create detailed migration plans and procedures
  • Configure new UCaaS or CCaaS solutions to enable services, license assignments including access controls within the migration scope
  • Migrate users, profiles, collaboration features (voice, video, messaging, conferencing), and associated services between source systems and target UCaaS environments
  • Perform network readiness assessments to ensure support for new UC/CC system and recommend required upgrades
  • Configure IVRs, call queues, call routing, agent setups including admin and supervisor roles
  • Migrate supported devices or provision new devices. The devices can include supported desk phones, conference room endpoints, and soft clients
  • Execute bulk migration jobs using automation tools and scripts, ensuring efficient and low-impact transitions
  • Collaborate with customer technical teams to coordinate migration steps, clarify technical requirements, and troubleshoot technical issues related to voice quality, connectivity, and functionality during and after the migration. Document encountered issues, and resolutions.
  • Deliver accurate, timely progress updates and status reports throughout project execution. Clearly communicate migration milestones, encountered issues, and provided resolutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing, Go-Live activities and production cutovers, validating users, features, services, and endpoint readiness post-migration
  • Provide change management and post-migration support to ensure smooth transition

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Deep understanding of VoIP, SIP, PBXs and UCaas/CCaaS platforms
  • Strong technical knowledge working with On-Premises Voice, UC & CC systems from Cisco, Avaya, Mitel, Communication Platforms like Cisco Broadworks, Metaswitch, and Cloud based UCaaS/CCaaS solutions from Cisco Webex, Microsoft Teams and RingCentral
  • Setting up and managing devices and software, such as Session Border Controllers (SBCs), to connect the UCaaS/CCaaS platform with other services.
  • Hands-on expertise creating user profiles, device provisioning, registration and firmware management for a UC/CCand UCaaS/CCaaS environments
  • Experience provisioning, migrating, and troubleshooting UC users, collaboration services, with major UCaaS vendors
  • Experience migrating contact centre environments, including agent/queue setup, workflow migration, reporting, and 3rd party integrations
  • Demonstrated scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, REST APIs for user, device, and agent provisioning/migration
  • Strong analytical,  problem solving and communication skills. Articulate user/service migration status, troubleshoot technical issues and resolutions to stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation skills for procedures, challenges, and resolutions.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Teams Voice Engineer Associate
  • Cisco Certified Specialist – Collaboration
  • Contact centre platform specialist certifications (Genesys, Avaya, Cisco)
