About the Role: The UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) System Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and testing drone systemsincluding propulsion, electronics, communication, control, and payload modules. The role requires strong interdisciplinary engineering skills and hands-on experience with UAV hardware and software.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate system-level design and integration of UAV platforms, including propulsion, avionics, payloads, and ground control systems.
- Define system architecture, requirements, and interfaces across subsystems.
- Perform trade studies and analysis to select optimal hardware and software solutions.
- Oversee integration of flight controllers, GPS, IMUs, telemetry systems, and payloads.
- Develop and execute test plans, including simulation, lab, and flight testing.
- Analyze test data, identify performance gaps, and implement system-level improvements.
- Collaborate with software, mechanical, electrical, and aerodynamics teams to ensure cohesive development.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, regulatory, and airworthiness standards (e.g., DGCA, FAA, EASA).
- Troubleshoot system-level issues during design, integration, or field operations.
- Support documentation, configuration management, and product life-cycle management.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of UAV architecture and aerodynamics.
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Electronics, Robotics, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 25 years of experience in UAV design/integration.
- Experience with BLDC motors, ESCs, GPS, IMUs, telemetry radios.
- PCB design (Altium, KiCad) and basic embedded systems.
- Familiarity with communication protocols: UART, CAN, I2C, SPI.
- Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, or similar simulation tools.
- CAD familiarity (SolidWorks/Fusion 360) is an added advantage.
Preferred Skills:
- Designing long-endurance drones or heavy-lift platforms.
- Strong Troubleshooting experience.
- FPV drones, racing drones, or custom DIY builds.
- Knowledge of DGCA drone regulations.
- Experience with LiDAR, EO/IR, multispectral or custom payloads.
