4. Job Description:

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced U.S. Tax Manager to oversee tax compliance engagements, manage tax staff, and ensure the timely and accurate delivery of tax services. This role will serve as a key leader within the tax department, responsible for reviewing returns, resolving technical tax issues, mentoring team members, and supporting client service initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a CPA or experienced tax professional with a strong public accounting background and extensive knowledge of U.S. federal and state taxation.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance & Review

  • Review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, and trust tax returns.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal and state tax regulations.
  • Review supporting workpapers, financial statements, and tax adjustments.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and potential compliance risks.
  • Resolve technical tax issues and provide guidance to staff.

Engagement Management

  • Manage multiple tax engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Monitor workflow and coordinate assignments among tax preparers and reviewers.
  • Communicate engagement status, issues, and deadlines to leadership.
  • Ensure client deliverables are completed accurately and on schedule.
  • Assist with tax season planning and workload management.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and mentor tax preparers and senior tax preparers.
  • Review staff work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist with technical training and staff development initiatives.
  • Support recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding efforts as needed.
  • Promote a collaborative and high-performance team environment.

Client Service

  • Serve as a point of contact for client tax matters.
  • Respond to client questions and requests in a professional and timely manner.
  • Participate in tax planning discussions and client meetings.
  • Build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.

Tax Research & Planning

  • Conduct research on complex federal and state tax issues.
  • Prepare technical memorandums and recommendations.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and communicate their impact to the team.
  • Assist with tax planning and advisory projects.

5. Qualification & Experience:

  • Active CPA license preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or related field.
  • 6+ years of U.S. tax experience within a public accounting environment.
  • Strong experience with Forms 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, and 1041.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing tax returns and managing engagements.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising tax staff and reviewers.
  • Experience with CCH Axcess, UltraTax, GoSystem, or similar tax software.
  • Strong understanding of multi-state taxation.
  • Experience supporting tax planning and advisory engagements.
  • Experience working with U.S.-based clients and accounting firms.
