Job Description

Role & responsibilities:

  • Execute routine, preventive, and predictive maintenance of steam/gas turbines and auxiliaries (governing system, lubrication system, vacuum system, etc.).
  • Monitor and maintain vibration levels, bearing temperatures, and operating parameters within limits.
  • Assist in planning and execution Of major overhauls, turbine roll-over checks, alignment, and balancing.
  • Troubleshooting & Breakdown Handling.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for turbine faults, trips, or abnormal behavior.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams for quick restoration and reduce downtime.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, breakdown logs, history cards, and test reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, OEM guidelines, and company SOPS.
  • Regularly analyze turbine performance indicators and recommend efficiency improvement actions.
  • Support condition monitoring techniques like vibration analysis, thermography, and Oil analysis.
  • Identify critical spares and assist in inventory planning.
  • Raise indent for spares and follow up with procurement.
  • Train junior engineers and technicians on turbine operation and safety procedures.
  • Support energy audits, internal inspections, and external inspections (regulatory/OEM).

Functional Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of turbine principles, operation, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with rotor dynamics, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics as they apply to turbines.
  • Proficiency in preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of turbines and auxiliaries.
  • Capability to prepare job plans, schedules, and resource requirements for turbine overhauls and shutdowns.
  • Ability to quickly diagnose and troubleshoot turbine-related issues like: High vibrations, Bearing failures, Efficiency drops.
  • Skilled in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and implementing corrective actions.
  • Hands-on experience in disassembly and reassembly of turbines.
  • Proficient in shaft alignment (dial gauge/laser-based), bearing inspection, and clearance checks.
  • Working knowledge of vibration analysis, oil analysis, temperature monitoring, and other condition monitoring techniques.
  • Interpretation of data for predictive maintenance.
  • Skilled in preparing: Maintenance reports, Equipment history cards & Work permits & checklists
  • Comfortable With OEM manuals, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with maintenance Of turbine auxiliaries such as: Lube oil systems, Seal oil systems, Governing systems, Vacuum systems, Hydraulic actuators.
  • Proficiency in using special tools like: Torque wrenches, Micrometers and dial gauges, Bump test kits, Hydraulic jacks and lifting tools.
  • Ability to work with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) like SAP for: Work order management, Spare parts tracking, Maintenance history logging.
  • In-depth understanding of industrial safety standards, permit-to-work systems, LOTO procedures, and PPE usage during turbine maintenance.
  • Ability to analyze trends, suggest improvements, and adopt Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) or TPM practices.
