Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive geotechnical site investigations, including planning, execution, and interpretation of borehole data, in-situ testing, and laboratory test results to assess ground conditions relevant to tunneling projects.
- Develop and review detailed geotechnical design reports for tunnels, shafts, and associated underground structures, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including civil engineers, structural engineers, and project managers to integrate geotechnical recommendations into overall project designs.
- Evaluate soil-structure interaction and ground behavior under various loading conditions to optimize tunnel alignment, support systems, and excavation methods.
- Implement advanced numerical modeling techniques and software tools to simulate geotechnical scenarios, predicting settlement, ground movement, and potential risk factors.
- Oversee ground improvement and stabilization strategies such as grouting, dewatering, and ground freezing to mitigate risks during tunnel construction.
- Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies in all geotechnical operations, promoting a safety-first culture throughout project life cycle.
- Conduct regular site inspections and provide technical support during construction to resolve unforeseen geotechnical challenges efficiently and innovatively.
- Mentor and develop junior geotechnical engineers and technicians, fostering knowledge sharing and skill enhancement to build a robust technical team.
- Maintain continuous communication with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to deliver transparent project updates and technical clarifications.
- Drive innovation by researching and adopting emerging technologies and methodologies in geotechnical engineering applicable to tunneling projects.
- Contribute to cost optimization by identifying effective ground investigation techniques and recommending sustainable design alternatives without compromising safety or quality.
- Prepare and present detailed technical documentation, including risk assessments, progress reports, and compliance certifications, ensuring alignment with Adani's standards of excellence and integrity.
Qualifications
Education Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering; Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering or related field preferred.
Certification Required
- Certified Geotechnical Engineer (as recognized by relevant professional bodies)
- Safety training certifications relevant to tunneling and underground construction
- Project Management certification (PMP or equivalent) is a plus
Experience10-15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering specifically within the tunneling industry, demonstrating progressive responsibility and expertise in managing complex projects.
