Job Description

Job Summary

The Transport Manager will be responsible for the complete management and coordination of passenger and goods transportation operations across all 4 manufacturing units of Asian Fabricx. The role involves fleet management, route planning, vehicle scheduling, driver management, statutory compliance, fuel monitoring, cost optimization, safety implementation, and ensuring smooth employee and material movement without operational disruptions.

The candidate should possess strong coordination, vendor management, and operational planning capabilities with the ability to manage transport operations efficiently in a multi-unit manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Transport Operations

  • Manage daily transportation operations for passenger vehicles and goods vehicles across all units.
  • Prepare and monitor vehicle movement schedules for employees, staff, buyers, visitors, and materials.
  • Ensure timely pickup and drop arrangements for employees and management staff.
  • Coordinate inter-unit logistics and movement planning.
  • Monitor vehicle utilization and optimize route planning to improve efficiency and reduce operational cost.
  • Ensure uninterrupted transport support for production and dispatch activities.

Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance

  • Ensure all vehicles are maintained in proper working condition through preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Track vehicle fitness certificates, insurance, permits, pollution certificates, road tax, and statutory renewals.
  • Coordinate servicing, repairs, breakdown management, and emergency support.
  • Maintain transport-related documentation and records systematically.
  • Ensure compliance with RTO regulations and company safety standards.

Driver & Vendor Management

  • Supervise drivers, transport coordinators, and outsourced transport vendors.
  • Monitor driver attendance, discipline, grooming, behavior, and performance.
  • Conduct regular driver safety awareness and defensive driving programs.
  • Verify driver licenses and statutory eligibility periodically.
  • Handle transport contractor negotiations and vendor performance evaluations.

Fuel & Cost Control

  • Monitor fuel consumption and mileage tracking of all vehicles.
  • Implement fuel efficiency and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Verify fuel bills, transport invoices, toll expenses, and repair costs.
  • Prepare monthly MIS reports on transport utilization and expenses.
  • Control unauthorized vehicle usage and operational wastage.

Safety & Administration

  • Ensure adherence to road safety norms and company transport policies.
  • Investigate transport-related incidents/accidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain emergency response readiness for vehicle breakdowns or accidents.
  • Coordinate VIP visits, audits, and special transportation requirements.
  • Support administration and facility teams during events and employee activities.

Qualification

  • Degree / Diploma in Automobile / Transport Management, or related field preferred.
  • Hands on experience on Vehicle maintenance and trouble shooting
  • Handled a fleet for 20 & above PSV & 15 above good vehicles
  • Experience in handling Eicher brands & BS6 vehicles
  • Vehicle compliance knowledge in RTO Process , Permits, Fast Tags, Motor Vehicle act procedures, Fitness certificate Procedure , Driver roster , Vendor Payments & Budgeting.

Experience

  • 10–15 years of experience in transport/fleet management preferably in manufacturing, textile, logistics, or industrial sectors.
  • Experience in handling both passenger and goods vehicle operations is mandatory.
  • Experience in multi-unit transport coordination will be an added advantage.

Preferred Candidate Profile

  • Candidates from Tamil Nadu region will be preferred who has extensive knowledge in the state rules and operational experience.
  • Candidate should be willing to work in Karur, Tamil Nadu and open for relocation.
  • Strong operational discipline and coordination ability.
  • Ability to manage large-scale daily transport movement efficiently.
  • Good knowledge of local transport regulations and vendor networks.
  • Capable of handling emergency situations and operational challenges independently.
  • Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and transport MIS reporting preferred.
