Position Summary
As a Transmission Line Engineer, you will be instrumental in the design and development of transmission line projects. You will interact with various teams, contributing to project planning, design, and execution while ensuring compliance with industry standards and local regulations. This position requires a strong technical acumen, creativity in problem-solving, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Design and develop transmission line designs for substations up to 500kV voltages.
- Create specifications for structures, cable, assemblies, and other components required to build the project.
- Develop, review, and validate models for power system components using PLS-CADD, or similar.
- Understanding of the FERC and NERC requirements for electrical transmission market.
- Understanding of IEEE, ASCE, and ACI codes and standards required for the electrical transmission market.
- Support, lead and/or manage high voltage utility projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budget.
- Design and analyze electrical systems, ensuring they meet the necessary technical requirements, codes, and client specifications.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, mentoring junior engineers and offering support in complex problem-solving.
- Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and clients to streamline workflow and improve project delivery.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure alignment of technical specifications while delivering high-quality engineering outputs.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation that summarize study findings and recommendations, assisting clients in making informed decisions.
- Be actively involved in the preparation of proposals and business development activities.
- Be proactive in supporting construction operations with a problem-solving mindset.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve power system studies.
Job Requirements / Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field of study.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in transmission design.
- Previous experience working in the US market.
- Proficiency in software tools for power system studies (e.g., PLS-CADD, L-Pile).
- Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, codes, and standards applicable to the US market.
- Full understanding of IEEE, ASCE, and ACI codes and standards applicable to the electrical grid.
- Full understanding of NEC codes and standards applicable to the electrical grid.
- Full understanding of NERC and FERC standards and requirements applicable to the electrical grid.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and precision.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to travel to the Overland Park office for training, development, team building, and client engagement activities.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with a commitment to meeting deadlines.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field of study.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical power system engineering.
- Previous experience working in the US market and/or with a US based engineering company.
