Job Description

Role: Sr. Associate

Practice:Energy Utilities & Resources (intelligent Government Transformation)

Location: Delhi NCR (should be willing to travel across India / abroad and stay for extended periods)

Qualification: B.E./B.Tech. and PGDM/MBA in Finance or Power Management

Experience: 5-8 years of electricity regulatory advisory experience with power transmission & distribution utilities

Practice Overview:

The practice operates at the intersection of business strategy, regulatory advisory, and technological transformation within the power sector. The team supports utilities, regulators, and government stakeholders in enhancing sector efficiency through regulatory reforms, tariff design, process optimisation, digital enablement, and policy development. We collaborate closely with public sector utilities and government entities in India and internationally to design robust regulatory frameworks and enable the adoption of emerging technologies that support the transition towards a modern, resilient energy system.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of models, petition and filing of Multi-Year Tariff (MYT), Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR), True-up, Annual Performance Review (APR), and Business Plan for Transmission & Distribution utilities. Minimum of three years experience preparing and filing Transmission Tariff Petitions with the CERC.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and identify trends, risks, and opportunities associated with tariff and regulatory aspects.
  • Review of international practices in electricity regulation and recommend adaptable frameworks.
  • Drafting policy papers, consultation papers, discussion papers, and staff papers on critical issues related to electricity laws, regulations, tariff policies, renewable energy integration, and market reforms, etc.
  • Preparation of high-quality reports, presentations, and client deliverables related to Utilities and Clients.
  • Manage and nurture client relationships, serving as a key point of contact, ensuring client satisfaction, addressing issues proactively, and identifying opportunities for long-term engagement.
  • Proactively support in business development initiatives, including identifying new opportunities, supporting proposal development, preparing client presentations, etc.
  • Strong analytical abilities for tariff determination, true-up processes, and other regulatory compliance
  • Exposure of filing petitions before the appropriate Commission(s) and tribunal(s) in any of the regulatory matters.

Key Skills Required:

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Strong financial modelling and tariff modelling skills
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations
  • Excellence in visualising data, synthesising insights and storytelling with data
  • A history of successful, creative problem-solving
  • Regulatory consulting experience
  • Sharp communication and fluency in English language
