About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Transition Manager to lead the end-to-end transition of large-scale IT Infrastructure Managed Services engagements for an enterprise customer.
The role will be responsible for planning, governance, knowledge transfer, service readiness, and successful migration of operations from the incumbent environment into our managed services model.
This position requires strong experience in datacenter infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise IT operations, and service transition frameworks.
The role will be based in Mumbai and will work closely with customer stakeholders, internal engineering teams, and delivery leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Transition Planning & Governance
- Lead the end-to-end transition program for infrastructure managed services engagements
- Develop and manage transition plans, milestones, risk logs, and governance structure
- Define and execute transition strategy including knowledge transfer, shadow support, and service takeover
- Establish transition timelines, deliverables, and operational readiness checkpoints
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary transition interface between customer stakeholders and internal delivery teams
- Conduct regular governance meetings, steering committees, and transition reviews
- Manage expectations of customer leadership, project managers, and service delivery teams
Knowledge Transfer & Service Readiness
- Plan and execute knowledge transfer sessions across infrastructure domains including:
- Linux / Unix
- Windows
- Databases (Oracle, SQL, Open Source)
- Middleware
- Backup & Storage
- Virtualization (VMware / Nutanix)
- Identity & Access Management
- Monitoring & ITSM tools
- Ensure runbooks, SOPs, and operational documentation are created and validated
- Oversee shadow support and reverse shadow support phases
Operational Readiness
- Define SLA / KPI structures
- Ensure monitoring, incident management, and escalation processes are established
- Work with L1 / L2 / L3 teams to ensure readiness for steady-state operations
Risk & Issue Management
- Identify transition risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Track and resolve issues impacting transition timelines
- Ensure minimal disruption to business services during the transition phase
Required Skills & Experience
- 12+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure, Managed Services, or Datacenter Operations
- 5+ years of experience managing large service transitions
- Strong exposure to enterprise infrastructure environments
- Experience transitioning services across domains such as:
- Compute (Linux / Windows)
- Databases
- Middleware
- Storage / Backup
- Virtualization
- Identity and Messaging platforms
- Hands-on experience with ITIL-based service transition frameworks
- Strong experience working with enterprise customers and large delivery teams
- Excellent program management and stakeholder communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- ITIL Certification (ITIL v3 / ITIL 4)
- PMP / Prince2 certification is a plus
- Experience in datacenter or managed infrastructure services organizations
