Job Description

About Fusie Engineers

Fusie Engineers is a rapidly growing global engineering consultancy delivering structural and installation engineering solutions to the offshore, maritime and heavy engineering sectors. Our work involves complex steel structures, lifting systems, seafastening arrangements, transport engineering and marine installation challenges governed by international standards.

Our projects demand clear engineering thinking, disciplined analysis and strong understanding of load paths in steel structures subjected to complex loading conditions. As we expand our structural analysis capability, we are looking to train the next generation of engineers who value first-principles engineering over blind software operation.

The Role

The Trainee Structural Engineer role is designed to build strong engineering fundamentals before progressing to advanced analysis responsibilities. You will work closely with senior engineers and will gradually develop the ability to analyze, design and validate steel structures used in offshore and heavy engineering applications. The focus of this role is on understanding structural behavior and load paths, not simply learning software tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing structural concepts and identifying load paths in steel structures
  • Perform hand calculations related to strength, stability and load transfer under supervision
  • Support preparation of calculation notes and structural analysis models
  • Assist in structural modelling using tools such as RFEM, ANSYS, STAAD or similar platforms
  • Review drawings to understand how calculations translate into real fabrication details
  • Learn to identify potential weaknesses in structural design and suggest improvements
  • Work with drafting teams to understand how engineering decisions affect constructability
  • Participate in internal engineering discussions and technical reviews
  • Support preparation of engineering documentation and reports

Projects may involve offshore structures, lifting frames, seafastening systems, grillage structures, transport frames and other heavy steel assemblies used in marine and industrial environments.

What We Are Looking For

  • Masters Degree in Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics and strength of materials
  • Interest in structural steel design and heavy engineering applications
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations and understand load behavior
  • Logical thinking and willingness to learn from first principles
  • Curiosity to question results and understand why structures behave the way they do
  • Good communication and willingness to work closely with senior engineers

What We Offer

  • Exposure to complex offshore and heavy engineering projects
  • Structured training in structural analysis and engineering fundamentals
  • Opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers on technically challenging projects
  • A performance-driven environment that rewards curiosity, discipline and technical ownership
  • Clear path to grow into a Structural Engineer role as capabilities develop

How to Apply

If you are an engineer interested in building strong fundamentals in structural engineering and working on technically demanding projects, we would like to hear from you.
