Position: Trainee- Dangerous Goods (DG) Approver Container Shipping
Location: Indore, India
Job Type: Office Desk Job (No Field Work)
Primary Objective
To review, assess, and approve Dangerous Goods (DG) shipments in compliance withinternational safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies, ensuringsafe transport of hazardous cargo within the global container shipping network.
Key Responsibilities
- DG Documentation Review Approval Review shipper-provided Dangerous Goods Declarations (DGD) and relateddocumentation for accuracy and completeness. Verify proper classification, labeling, packaging, and placarding as per IMDG Coderequirements. Approve or reject DG bookings based on regulatory compliance and company safetystandards.
- Compliance Regulatory Oversight
Ensure All DG Cargo Complies With:
- International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code
- SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) regulations
- Flag State and Port State Control requirements
- Internal company policies and risk management protocols
- Risk Assessment Conduct technical risk evaluations for high-risk cargo (explosives, radioactive,corrosives, toxic substances). Approve transport feasibility for sensitive DG shipments considering vessel type,stowage restrictions, and routing limitations.
- Coordination Communication Liaise with shippers, freight forwarders, port authorities, terminals, and internaloperations teams regarding DG approvals. Guide booking desks, vessel planners, and terminal operators on DG handling andsegregation requirements. Work closely with stowage planners to ensure safe positioning of DG containers onvessels.
- System Management Documentation Utilize company systems to log DG approvals and maintain accurate approvalrecords. Monitor pending approvals and ensure data integrity for all DG cargo movementsacross the network.
- Training Awareness Stay updated with changes to IMDG Code and DG handling best practices. Conduct internal awareness and training sessions for operations teams on DGcompliance and safety procedures.
- Incident Support Support incident investigations related to DG shipments. Recommend preventive and corrective actions to reduce DG-related risks.
Required Skills Competencies
Strong analytical and documentation review skills.
Effective communication and coordination skills across international teams.
In-depth training on IMDG Code and hazardous cargo classification will beprovided.

Education: B.Sc. Chemistry / M.Sc. Chemistry
Compensation Benefits
Salary at Joining:
- B.Sc. Chemistry: 2.75 LPA from Day 1
- M.Sc. Chemistry: 3.30 LPA from Day 1 (based on Right candidate, with goodattitude, Communication, Knowledge and Commitment)
