DevOps Architect (Hands-On)
Location: Noida (On-site) Experience: 7+ years Type: Full-time
About the Role
We're looking for a DevOps architect who is also a one-person army — someone who designs the system and builds it. As comfortable whiteboarding a multi-region failover as debugging a misbehaving pod at 2 AM.
This is not a role where you hand specs to a team. You are the infrastructure function. You'll own every layer — from IAM policy to the Kubernetes autoscaler to the CI/CD pipeline — and operate at the intersection of security, reliability, performance, and cost. Not as trade-offs to be balanced, but as simultaneous constraints to be solved.
You'll work directly with backend and frontend engineers on a multi-tenant, high-throughput platform — 38+ Spring Boot microservices, an MSK-backed event pipeline, AWS-native — and own infrastructure decisions end-to-end.
Success in this role has a number on it: reduce our AWS infrastructure spend by at least 40% — while simultaneously improving platform performance, scalability, reliability, and security. The cost cut cannot come at the expense of any of those. That's the bar.
If you've ever been the person everyone turns to when production is on fire — and you liked it — this role is for you.
What You'll Own (end to end)
- Architect, build, and operate scalable multi-tenant infrastructure — from design through production
- Own Kubernetes end-to-end: cluster design, deployment, scaling, upgrades, and cost
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines built for speed and reliability
- Run FinOps proactively — cut cloud spend without touching performance
- Own security across the stack: IAM, networking, secrets, compliance
- Build observability (logs, metrics, tracing) and own incident response — including being first on call
- Make the call on system-design trade-offs (latency, throughput, cost) — and live with the consequences in production
- Partner with engineering to get features production-ready
Must-Have Experience
- 7+ years in DevOps / SRE / infrastructure, with real architect-level ownership
- Deep, hands-on AWS: EC2, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC
- Strong working knowledge of Azure (AKS, networking, identity, compute) — you can architect cross-cloud when it's the right call
- Production-grade Kubernetes and Docker / containerization
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Caching layers (Redis / ElastiCache)
- Proven track record running multi-tenant SaaS at scale
- Strong grasp of: System-design trade-offs (latency, throughput, cost)
- Networking (VPCs, subnets, load balancers)
- Security (least privilege, secrets management, threat-surface reduction)
- Scripting (Python, Bash, or Go) — you automate instead of repeating yourself
What Good Looks Like in This Role
- You've cut cloud costs by 40%+ before — without hurting performance, and ideally while improving it
- You've designed systems that scale cleanly under load spikes
- You've owned real production incidents — and made the system better afterward
- You think in failure modes, not just happy paths
- You don't just deploy infra — you own its behavior in production
- You move fast without a team behind you, and you like it that way
Nice to Have
- Service meshes (Istio, Linkerd)
- Event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, Pub/Sub)
- Security / compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO, etc.)
- AI-native ways of working — using AI tooling to move faster across infra and automation
Why Join Us
- Work on real scaling problems, not toy systems
- Total ownership and autonomy — this is your domain to shape
- Build the infrastructure backbone from early stages all the way to scale
To Be Considered for This Role
- Send your resume and a 2-minute self-recorded video to [Confidential Information] and [HIDDEN TEXT]. LinkedIn applications will be ignored.
- Practical discussion on past systems you've built
- Deep dive into one production incident you handled
- Live problem-solving (architecture + trade-offs)
- Culture & ownership fit, and working at a startup
