Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tooling Supervisor to oversee and optimize our tooling operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of our manufacturing processes through expert management of tooling design, maintenance, and inventory.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of tooling technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Implement and maintain robust cost controls for all tooling-related expenses, identifying opportunities for savings and efficiency improvements.
- Develop and execute comprehensive equipment maintenance schedules for all tooling and related machinery to minimize downtime and extend asset life.
- Manage tooling inventory, including ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing tools, to ensure optimal stock levels and prevent production delays.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize manufacturing processes through effective tooling solutions.
- Oversee materials handling procedures related to tooling, ensuring safe and efficient movement and storage.
- Implement and enforce stringent Quality Control (QC) standards for all manufactured tools and tooling components.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain and Supply Chain Management (SCM) teams to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of tooling materials and services.
- Contribute to and review Tooling Design specifications, offering expert input for manufacturability and performance.
- Manage and execute Tool Qualification processes, ensuring all new and modified tools meet required performance and quality standards.
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience in a tooling supervision or lead tooling technician role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding and practical experience in Cost Controls related to tooling and manufacturing.
- Demonstrated expertise in Equipment Maintenance for industrial machinery and tooling.
- Proficiency in Inventory Management techniques and systems.
- In-depth knowledge of Manufacturing Processes and their interdependencies with tooling.
- Experience with Materials Handling best practices.
- Solid understanding of Quality Control (QC) principles and their application in tooling.
- Familiarity with Supply Chain and Supply Chain Management (SCM) concepts.
- Experience with Tooling Design principles and software is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage and execute Tool Qualification processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding manufacturing environment.
