Tooling Professional

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement custom material handling units, fixturing, and associated processes for parts, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies
• Establish and standardize operational and engineering processes across programs
• Serve as technical expert on specialized projects and complex engineering programs
• Execute engineering projects in collaboration with AMAT-associated suppliers
• Interface with internal and external customers to resolve mechanical issues for assigned projects
• Develop and implement solutions for complex product and manufacturing challenges
• Specify, supervise, and review engineering layouts, schematics, detailed drawings, and specifications of complex scope
• Generate product specifications and test specifications
• Define and create requirements for material handling units, including system architecture, concepts, and validation plans
• Perform and review engineering calculations and analysis for custom-designed parts and OEM selection
• Specify, review, and maintain engineering documentation
• Apply strong knowledge of material selection including metals and non-metals, machining, fabrication, sheet metal, and post-processing operations
• Utilize various manufacturing methodologies and support hands-on assembly build and troubleshooting
• Identify and resolve form, fit, and function issues during build and integration

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in GD&T with solid understanding of tolerance stack-up analysis
• Experience applying ISO and ASME standards; knowledge of DIN standards is an added advantage
• Proficiency in CAD tools such as UG NX or Pro-E/Creo
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies and manufacturing troubleshooting
• Good presentation and negotiation skills
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and customers
