QC – Gauge room/ Metrology Job description:
Key Responsibilities Gauge Management
Maintain and control all measuring instruments, gauges, fixtures, and inspection equipment.
Ensure proper identification and traceability of gauges through unique numbering systems.
Maintain gauge inventory records and calibration status. Calibration & Verification
Plan and coordinate internal and external calibration activities.
Ensure all gauges and measuring instruments are calibrated as per the defined schedule.
Verify calibration certificates and maintain calibration records.
Identify and segregate out-of-calibration instruments.
Instrument Maintenance
Ensure proper handling, storage, cleaning, and preservation of gauges.
Arrange repairs and servicing of damaged instruments.
Monitor gauge condition and recommend replacement when required. Documentation & Records
Maintain calibration master list and gauge history cards.
Keep records of calibration certificates, verification reports, and instrument issue registers.
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and internal procedures. Shop Floor Support
Issue and receive gauges from production departments.
Assist production and quality teams in measurement-related issues.
Support first-piece inspection, process audits, and customer audits when required. Quality System Compliance
Participate in internal audits and external audits.
Ensure Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities are conducted where applicable.
Monitor gauge control KPIs and prepare periodic reports. Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for improving gauge management systems.
Implement best practices for calibration and instrument control.
Reduce gauge downtime and calibration delays.

Qualifications
Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Certification in Metrology or Calibration (preferred). Experience
3–8 years of experience in Gauge Room, Calibration, or Quality Assurance in a machine shop/manufacturing environment.
Skills Required
Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
Understanding of calibration standards and metrology principles.
Familiarity with ISO 9001.
Proficiency in MS Excel and quality documentation.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication and coordination abilities.

Calibration compliance: 100%
Zero use of expired calibration instruments.
Gauge availability as per production requirements.
Audit compliance with no major observations.
Reduction in gauge breakdowns and delays.
Accurate maintenance of calibration records and documentation. Authority
Hold or reject gauges that are overdue for calibration.
Recommend repair, recalibration, or replacement of measuring instruments.
Stop the use of instruments found unfit for measurement purposes.
