They blend artistic vision with technical knowledge of manufacturing to develop visually appealing and functional textiles.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Creation: Develop original patterns, prints, and textures using computer-aided design (CAD) software and Adobe Creative Cloud.Trend Research: Stay updated on industry trends, color palettes, and seasonal themes by researching market preferences.Material Selection: Choose appropriate fabrics, dyes, and yarns while considering factors like cost-effectiveness and durability.Sampling & Production: Oversee the creation of samples and collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure the final product matches the design intent and quality standards.Client Collaboration: Work closely with fashion designers, merchandisers, and clients to align with brand briefs and aesthetic requirements.Sustainability Tracking: Research and source eco-friendly, sustainable, or innovative materials.Essential Qualifications & SkillsTechnical Proficiency: Mastery of digital design tools (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and CAD systems used for print and repeat pattern creation.Creative & Artistic Skills: A keen eye for color, shape, and composition, combined with an understanding of textiles (weaving, knitting, and printing techniques).Communication: Strong ability to pitch design concepts, present prototypes, and incorporate feedback from stakeholders.Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and handle design specifications.
