Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Testing and Commissioning Engineer role based in Chennai. The engineer will perform electrical testing and commissioning activities for power generation units, substations, and related equipment, ensuring systems meet technical specifications and safety requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing test plans, conducting pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, documenting results, and coordinating with project and site teams. The role involves diagnosing faults, troubleshooting issues during testing, and recommending corrective actions to achieve reliable system performance. The engineer will also support client inspections, adhere to relevant standards and procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement in testing methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • Strong foundation in Electrical Engineering with practical experience in power systems, substations, or power plants.
  • Hands-on skills in Electrical Testing and Testing of protection systems, switchgear, transformers, and other electrical equipment.
  • Experience as part of Commissioning Engineers teams, including planning, executing, and documenting commissioning activities.
  • Proficiency in Troubleshooting electrical faults, identifying root causes, and implementing effective corrective measures.
  • Familiarity with relevant electrical standards, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills for working with project teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Willingness to work on-site at industrial and utility locations, with flexibility for extended hours when project needs require.
  • Prior experience in thermal, hydro, biomass/gas, or substation projects is an advantage.
