Your role and responsibilities:

We are looking for a Test Lead at ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited (GISPL). This is a company which has 4 business areas to support ABB R&D projects globally. We are located in Bangalore, India and we have 2500 employees as a part of this company serving in the areas of Research, Development, Engineering center and Regional ERP support center which contributes to ABB's 4 business areas globally. In 2015 the company name was registered as ABB Global Industries and Services Private Limited (GISPL).

This position is opened in the Motion High Power (MOHP) Division, which is a global technology leader in high power variable frequency drives and motors. We keep the world turning, while saving energy every day. Our drives help our customers to achieve energy efficiency, sustainability and achieve profitable growth.

You would be reporting to the Division R&D Manager located in Bangalore. You will be working with the teams which are developing and validating shippable products for the India and global markets. You will also be a part of global R&D community spread across the ABB MOHP division.

This role is contributing to the Motion Business High Power Division in Bangalore, India

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Responsible as Test Lead for the team, managing the Product, System, Integration Testing Requirements for the product / solutions.

  • Responsible for developing System Integration plans and System Test Architecture of Drive / VFD System modules and System.

  • Responsible for defining the Requirements on Testing, System Integration, Continuous Integration, and Verification of software modules / systems developed by the development teams, also ensuring process-oriented way of execution and quality deliverables.

  • Responsible for software-focused Integration activities on system/product modules, including automated testing, system integration and continuous integration of software modules in line with the quality management system

  • Responsible for defining the Configuration Management requirements for Project and ensure the adherence of defined configuration management guidelines & plans.

  • Responsible for defining the acceptance criteria for all requirements covering Unit testing, system integration and system testing. Participate in Testing and System Integration testing along with the team members.

  • Review and approve the technical work packages delivered by the engineers.

  • Acts as a link between team and global roles (product mgt, program/project mgt), external vendors or other teams (Drives, Tools, Connectivity teams)

  • Supports management and team in the estimation of man hours required for the execution of the project deliverables.

Qualifications for the role:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical, electronic or power electronics engineering with minimum 8-10 years of experience in Drives / VFD or Industrial Automation Domain.

  • Hands on experience with VFDs, Drives / VFD connectivity tools used for Commissioning / Engineering.

  • Experience in Industrial protocol integration and testing is a must and should have worked on the Integration and validation of the Industrial Protocols - Should have working experience on at least Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet, Profinet and OPC UA protocols.

  • Experience on Drives / VFD Plant systems - Drives, HMI, PLC, Fieldbus N/W, Engineering tools, etc.

  • Experience in working with agile teams and knowledge of scrum process.

  • Software working experience on Design and development of OPC UA modules / Libraries would be an added advantage.

  • Understanding of industrial Automation Cyber Security standards and compliances would be an added advantage.

  • Would be good to have exposure of RoboFrame or similar test automation frameworks.
