Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Test Automation Specialist to join our Software Engineering Excellence Enablement team. You will collaborate directly with software teams across Philips Business Units, guiding and co-creating test automation solutions that improve speed, quality, and compliance. Through software craftsmanship assessments and role-modelling best practices, you will help teams evolve from manual, ticket-driven validation toward developer-centric, automated, and traceable pipelines.

Your role:

Provide technical guidance through real-world code contributions, pairing, and co-creation with development teams to improve their test automation practices.u00A0
Conduct Software Craftsmanship assessments to evaluate test maturity, identify improvement areas, and recommend actionable strategies tailored to team needs.u00A0
Coach teams on unit testing, mocking/stubbing, BDD/TDD, and system integration testing, ensuring alignment with the test pyramid and fast feedback principles.u00A0
Promote executable specifications and living documentation that link requirements directly to automated tests, supporting quality and auditability.u00A0
Drive the replacement of manual validation processes with automated, developer-friendly pipelines integrated into modern CI/CD workflows.u00A0
Share reusable patterns, examples, and tooling through inner-source contributions, documentation, and communities of practice.u00A0
Evaluate and help adopt AI-based testing accelerators that support teams in scaling automation and migrating away from manual test execution.u00A0

You're the right fit if:

Demonstrated fresh experience in hands-on test automation within regulated software environments, preferably medical or other safety-critical industries.u00A0
Strong coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, C#, or C++) and related testing frameworks.u00A0
Deep understanding of test strategy design (unit, integration, e2e), the test pyramid, and automation in CI/CD pipelines.u00A0
Practical experience with BDD frameworks and executable specifications (e.g., Cucumber, SpecFlow), and linking tests to requirements.u00A0
Interest or hands-on experience with AI tools for testing productivity, such as AI-assisted test case generation or documentation parsing.u00A0
Strong facilitation and communication skills to conduct assessments, lead technical discussions, and influence testing culture across teams.u00A0
Experience translating regulatory and quality requirements (e.g., traceability, DHF, verification) into developer-centric, automatable solutions is a great plus.u00A0

Minimum required Education:
Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent.

Minimum required Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience with Bachelor's OR Minimum 3 years of experience with Master's in areas such as Software Development, Software Design and Architecture, Testing and Quality Assurance or equivalent.

Minimum required Certification:
ISTQB Test Manager

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week.
Onsite roles require full-time presence in the companyu2019s facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the companyu2019s main facilities, generally at the customersu2019 or suppliersu2019 locations.
