Terminal Operations & Performance
- Lead overall container terminal operations, including vessel operations, yard planning, gate operations, and equipment deployment.
- Ensure achievement of KPIs such as berth productivity, crane productivity, vessel turnaround time, yard utilization, truck turnaround time, and safety metrics.
- Optimize operational planning to handle peak volumes, congestion, and disruptions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reliability.
Safety, Health, Environment & Safety (HSE)
- Establish and enforce a strong safety-first culture across terminal operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISPS Code, port safety regulations, environmental norms, and internal SHE standards.
- Lead incident investigations and ensure corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive environmental sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
Financial & Commercial Management
- Own the terminal P&L, including revenue optimization, cost control, and margin improvement.
- Prepare and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term business plans.
- Support commercial teams on customer negotiations, SLAs, tariff structures, and service differentiation.
- Identify opportunities for productivity-linked revenue enhancement and operating cost reduction.
Technology, Automation & Digitalization
- Drive adoption of Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) and digital solutions for planning, execution, and reporting.
- Lead implementation of technology upgrades, automation projects, and process digitization where applicable.
- Use data analytics to drive decision-making, improve asset utilization, and predict operational bottlenecks.
Asset & Maintenance Management
- Ensure optimal availability and reliability of Quay Cranes, RTGs/RMGs, Reach Stackers, Terminal Tractors, and other equipment.
- Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance strategies in coordination with engineering teams.
- Plan lifecycle management, capex proposals, and commissioning of new assets.
Customer & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary interface with shipping lines, agents, logistics partners, customs, port authorities, and statutory bodies.
- Ensure consistent service levels and proactive resolution of customer issues.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulatory and government stakeholders.
People Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead a multi-disciplinary workforce comprising operations, engineering, planning, and support functions.
- Build a high-performance culture through clear accountability, performance management, and capability development.
- Drive industrial relations stability and effective union engagement, where applicable.
- Ensure robust succession planning and leadership pipeline development.
Governance, Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with port concessions, licenses, statutory obligations, and audit requirements.
- Identify operational, financial, and regulatory risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Ensure adherence to internal governance, delegation of authority, and reporting frameworks.
