Role summary
Responsible for designing, developing, automating, and troubleshooting IP network platforms using C, NETCONF/YANG, and Cisco IOS XR, with a focus on carrier-grade routing, configuration automation, and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain IP network configurations on IOS XR platforms for service provider or large enterprise environments.
- Develop and maintain network automation tools and scripts using C and related technologies, leveraging NETCONF/YANG for model-driven configuration and telemetry.
- Participate in XR bootcamps/lab work to validate new features, configurations, and software upgrades before production rollout.
- Troubleshoot complex L2/L3 routing, MPLS, and services issues on IOS XR devices, including performance and stability problems.
- Implement and verify AAA, NTP, QoS, and security policies on IOS XR systems following best practices and internal standards.
- Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to translate design requirements into robust, automated configurations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including configurations, runbooks, and design diagrams.
Required skills and experience
- Strong proficiency in C programming, preferably in networking or embedded/low-level environments.
- Hands-on experience with NETCONF/YANG-based network automation or configuration management.
- Practical experience with Cisco IOS XR (configuration, operations, and troubleshooting) and familiarity with XR training/bootcamps or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS), MPLS, VPN services, and QoS concepts.
- Experience working with CLI-driven network devices and Linux-based environments.
- Good problem-solving skills, ability to debug complex network issues, and willingness to work in lab and production environments.
Nice-to-have
- Exposure to other automation tools/languages (Python, Ansible, RESTCONF, gNMI).
- Knowledge of carrier/ISP environments and large-scale routing architectures.
- Relevant Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE Service Provider or Enterprise).
