- Job Description – MSME Technology Support Expert
Required Experience in MSME technology adoption, energy efficiency, engineering/industrial technologies
A. Role Summary
The MSME Technology Support Expert will lead all activities related to technology upgradation, energy efficiency improvement, and technical advisory for MSMEs across multiple sectors. The expert will support enterprises in accessing modern, costeffective, and energyefficient technologies and facilitate linkages with technical institutions, testing centres, and BEEcertified auditors.
B. Key Responsibilities
1. Technology Mapping & Advisory
- Identify and disseminate information on emerging technologies relevant to MSMEs across sectors like textiles, chemicals, engineering, food processing, handicrafts, etc.
- Guide MSMEs on technology upgradation, modernization, automation, and quality improvement.
- Assist enterprises in identifying suitable vendors, technology providers, and national R&D institutions.
2. Energy Efficiency & Energy Audits
- Facilitate MSME Energy Audits through BEEcertified auditors.
- Provide guidance on adoption of energyefficient machinery, renewable energy options, and process optimization.
- Support MSMEs in accessing relevant schemes for energyefficient technology finance (e.g., SIDBI, BEE, MoMSME).
3. Technical Linkages & Partnerships
- Coordinate with national institutions such as BEE, MSME Technology Centres, IITs/ NITs, CSIR Labs, Engineering/Testing facilities, Private technology solution companies
- Facilitate technical partnerships, demonstrations, and exposure visits for MSMEs.
4. SectorSpecific Technical Gap Assessments
- Coordinate with IA / Mentors/Auditors to conduct clusterwise or enterprisewise diagnostic studies.
- Identify bottlenecks in production, quality, process flow, energy usage, and machinery.
- Supervise preparation of structured action plans by energy auditors for MSMEs.
5. Capacity Building
- Facilitate in organizing workshops on - Technology adoption and best practices, Lean manufacturing and process improvement, Energy management and technology benchmarking, Digital technologies for MSMEs
- Coordinate with IA in preparation of sectorspecific technical resource material.
6. Scheme Facilitation
- Guide MSMEs on availing schemes related to Technology upgradation, ZED, Lean, CLCSS, CFC support, Energyefficient technologies, Testing, R&D services etc
- Provide handholding support to MSMEs for application and documentation.
7. Monitoring & Reporting
- Maintain database of MSMEs adopting new technologies.
- Track outcomes such as cost savings, productivity gains, and energy savings.
- Prepare monthly technical progress reports and success stories.
C. Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's/Master's in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, Textile) or equivalent technical field.
- Minimum 10 years experience in MSME technology advisory, energy efficiency, industrial engineering consulting, or technology transfer.
- Experience working with BEE, testing labs, industry associations, or technology centres preferred.
D. Skills Required
- Strong understanding of industrial processes and MSME technologies
- Knowledge of energy audits and BEE guidelines
- Technical problemsolving and enterprise advisory capability
- Strong coordination, facilitation, and MIS reporting skills
- Effective communication and training delivery
