Your role

As a Technology Intelligence Engineer at Atlas Copco, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our Compressor Technique business by driving forward technology scouting and delivering in-depth technical research to support innovation and product development. This dynamic position requires a proactive individual with over two years of experience who is eager to contribute to the evolution of compressor systems, vacuum technologies, and related industrial applications. You will engage deeply with engineering design fundamentals while exploring emerging technologies that shape the future of our industry.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate closely with both internal teams and external partners to conduct comprehensive technology scouting activities, ensuring alignment with strategic innovation objectives.
  • Perform systematic literature reviews and conduct technical research on critical topics such as compressor and vacuum systems, energy sectors, thermal sciences, and advanced materials engineering.
  • Monitor and analyze industry trends and emerging technologies to provide actionable insights for Atlas Copco's technology roadmap.
  • Evaluate and assist in refining existing product designs and topologies to optimize performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the integration of new product features that respond effectively to customer needs and evolving regulatory frameworks.
  • Develop well-structured research reports and scouting documentation that underpin decision-making processes across the product lifecycle.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with research and development, manufacturing, product engineering, marketing, and intellectual property teams to synergize technology development efforts.
  • Identify key technology and knowledge gaps to guide future innovation and development initiatives.
  • Engage actively in internal technical forums and promote knowledge sharing to cultivate a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.

To succeed, you will need
  • A Bachelor's or Master's or Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or closely related fields is required to provide a strong technical foundation.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in areas such as mechanical, thermal, HVAC, materials science, power generation, sustainability, oil & gas, or emerging energy markets.
  • Demonstrated interest or foundational knowledge in compressor and vacuum technologies, with an ability to understand their industrial applications.
  • Proficiency in extracting and analyzing data from diverse sources including technical journals, industry standards, regulations, and product benchmarking resources.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex technical data and drawing meaningful conclusions.
  • Ability to examine product designs at a granular level and infer functional features and improvements.
  • Competence in applying statistical analysis techniques to support research findings.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a collaborative mindset to work effectively across multiple teams and cultural environments.
