Technical Quote Lead – Displays

Mission of the Role: The Technical Quote Leader is responsible for leading new business pursuits/quotes for the Display product line and coordinating with all Display Product Line functions (Customer Regional Engineering, Mechanical, Display & Lens teams, Hardware & Platform Software teams, Program & Commodity Purchasing and Manufacturing) and lead & coordinate associated internal engineering activities. This role will have a clear understanding of why, what, and when of an assigned product and will communicate its story and the business value concisely to all stakeholders.
Typical Duties: Technical lead of Display related engineering activities for Customer RFIs & Quotations: Lead multi-functional global engineering internal team to Establish & direct engineering team supporting pursuits/quotes within the Displays Product Line.
Key Stakeholders: Multiple internal cross-functional stakeholders (example: sales, manufacturing, engineering); OEM customers; strategic suppliers.
Key Objectives of the Role:
- Technical Lead for RFx Quotations:
- Lead global engineering team.
- Direct engineering team for new product line pursuits/quotes.
- Review new product requirements (Mechanical, HW, SW).
- Coordinate technical deliverables for quote timeline.
- Develop optimal designs and review BOM costs.
- Ensure timely completion of quote documentation (TDR, BOM, assumptions).
- Work with Product Management & commercial team on cost targets.
- Identify and initiate long lead items.
- Align make/buy strategy with Manufacturing & Purchasing.
- Review supplier quotes with Purchasing.
- Optimize assembly process with Manufacturing.
- Should Cost/Should Price:
- Lead should-cost and should-price estimations (Display, Lens, eBOM, mBOM).
- Review should-cost and should-price with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Customer Groups on cost/price targets.
- Align strategies on winning cost targets and prices with related teams and management.
- Process Compliance:
- Ensure compliance during the quote process.
- Support customer milestones and requirements.
Key Year One Deliverables:
- Strategic Growth : Develop strategies to expand Display products and increase market share.
- Should Cost and Should Price Management: Increase winning rate by estimating the cost and price precisely.
- Roadmap Validation : Continuously validate and adjust the product roadmap based on customer feedback and industry trends.
- RFQ Acquisition : Secure RFQs from auto OEMs to ensure significant lifetime value for the Display business.
- Technology Leadership : Introduce cutting-edge technologies to drive product and feature competitiveness.
- Cost Optimization : Create product value propositions and cost reduction proposals to optimize costs.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
Key experience required:
- Years of Experience: 3+ years of Automotive Display product experience or similar;
- Degree Strongly Preferred: Bachelor of Science (minimum), in Mechanical, Displays, or Electronic Engineering (EE), or a related field with equivalent experience.
Desired Competencies/Experience:
- Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Flexibility to support regions/countries in different time zones;
- Proven ability to lead and manage multi-functional global engineering internal team .
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with global cultural sensitivity.
- Strong presentation skills;
- Ability to understand, at a high level mechanical, display design, electronics & associated implementation;
- Good MS Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
- Good communication skills especially with Customers;
- Ability to work within a constrained deadline (quotes are tight and time-bound);
- Ability to work closely with suppliers for part selections and negotiations;
- A Plus – deep understanding of displays & touch technology;
- A Plus –understanding of commercial/business/financial measurement (NPV, IRR, EBIT, etc.);
- A Plus – experience with Jira, Confluence and AI agents
- Fluent in English;
- Self-motivated with the ability to lead a global team toward a common goal.
- Special Requirements (i.e. overtime, travel, etc.): Domestic and international travel to internal and customer locations may be required (5-10%).
