As a Technology Architect, you will engage in the design and delivery of technology architecture for various platforms, products, or engagements. You will analyze existing systems, identify areas for improvement, and implement architectural best practices to ensure the successful execution of projects. We are seeking an experienced Unreal Engine Developer – BIM Visualization to build high-quality real-time 3D, VR, and AR experiences for Manufacturing projects. The role focuses on transforming BIM models into immersive, interactive digital twins and visual experiences to support design coordination, stakeholder engagement, and client presentations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Import, optimize, and manage BIM data (Revit, Navisworks, ArchiCAD, IFC) into Unreal Engine for real-time visualization and interactive walkthroughs.
Create photorealistic environments, materials, and lighting to deliver high-quality digital twins, VR tours, and marketing presentations.
Develop interactive features such as UI elements, triggers, data overlays, and 4D/5D visualizations to explore BIM phases, quantities, and asset data.
Collaborate closely with BIM engineers, architects, and MEP teams to ensure correct model structure, LOD, and metadata representation.
Optimize applications for desktop, web, and XR devices using profiling, LOD management, light baking, and streaming techniques.
Contribute to and improve BIM-to-Unreal pipelines, leveraging tools like Datasmith, custom scripts, and plugins.
Maintain documentation covering workflows, standards, and best practices for real-time BIM visualization.
Professional & Technical Skills:
Strong expertise in Unreal Engine (Blueprints and/or C++) with solid understanding of real-time rendering, materials, and lighting systems.
Hands-on experience with BIM tools such as Autodesk Revit and Navisworks, including IFC and other open data formats.
Experience managing large-scale building models and 3D content pipelines (Datasmith, FBX, CAD imports).
Good understanding of BIM concepts including LOD, coordination, clash detection, BIM execution plans, and common data environments.
Strong foundation in 3D math, optimization, and performance profiling.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multi-disciplinary AEC teams.
Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to model accuracy and data quality.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with VR/AR/XR devices (Quest, Vive, Varjo, etc.) and immersive interaction design in Unreal.
- Scripting or tool development using Python, C#, Dynamo, or similar technologies for workflow automation.
- Knowledge of 4D/5D BIM and integration with project management or facility management systems.
Additional Information:
Education: A 15 year full-time education is required.
Experience: 10-12 years of Unreal Engine development experience, with at least 5 years in BIM-based AEC or digital twin projects.
