Job Role: Technologist

SECTION I: BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE JOB ROLE

Manager Job Position: Sr. Technologist - Utilities (Water)

Value Stream: Asset Operations

Sub-Job Family: CTS Offsites & Utilities

Location: Jamnagar

SECTION II: PURPOSE OF THE ROLET

Deliver best-in-class technical services to Operations for improving and sustaining performance of water generation units as per business needs and support for effective water management at JMD.

Monitor and analyse plant performance, participate in trouble shooting, shut down and start-up activities, value creation initiatives and improvement activities with an objective to drive process safety, reliability, costs and environmental performances.

Provide support to Sr. Technologist/Manager Technology in performing all CTS related functions as per plan.

SECTION III: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

Monitor and analyse performance of water generation units on key parameters and advice operations to take corrective actions to improve/sustain performance.

Review plant operating data and ensure timely issuance of daily, monthly MIIS reports.

Carry out periodic test runs, evaluate performance, identify gaps and issue report with technical recommendations.

Participate in troubleshooting, shut down and start-up activities and issue reports

Participate in RCA, IM or any specific study as per nomination and provide technical inputs

Review overall water balance and issue water management plan during planned / unplanned shutdown of water generation units

Identify improvement opportunities and prepare technical proposal and basic engineering package for implementation through MOC

Check technical integrity of all changes/ plant modifications as per set technical standards and guidelines

Conduct detail technical studies and issue technical reports

Provide technical support for Engineering, procurement, shutdown, construction and commissioning activities of new minor / major projects

Support generation and implementation of value creation initiatives/PIO/Encon/Process safety and reliability improvement schemes

Co-ordinate with Licensors / catalyst & chemical vendors to resolve technical issues.

Perform process engineering calculations as per requirement

Prepare and issue cat-chem and energy consumption norms on monthly / yearly basis and support Operations in preparing annual opex budget for the unit

Support development of alternate vendor/chemical/additive/catalyst and issue performance evaluation reports

Support implementation of process digitalisation initiatives by developing models / dash boards for improved process monitoring

Suggest improvements in existing processes/ equipment/ technologies to improve plant performance and process efficiency.

Participate in daily, monthly and other meetings as per schedule and provide technical inputs, as per need

Follow applicable HSEF procedures/practices with awareness about environmental statutory regulations and safety protocols

Participate in process safety, compliance and risk management activities like HAZOP, PHA/What If, Audits, PSSR, etc

Liaise with other functions like CoE, Maintenance, CES, HSEF, Projects, MEC/JEC, MPC, P&C, HR, Admin, FC&A teams for smooth plant operation

Attend training programs as per nomination to enhance knowledge, skills and competencies.

Improved and sustained plant performance

Zero interruptions due to inadequate supply of water

Contributions for Trouble shooting of the problems

No. of value creation and process improvement ideas generated and taken forward for implementation

SECTION V: OPERATING NETWORK

Internal: O&M, CoE, HSEF, CES, Site teams, HR, FC&A, Engineering etc.

External: Vendors, Auditors, Consultants etc.

SECTION VI: KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

Education Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from reputed University

Experience

3- 10 years hands on experience in Technical Services / Operations functions preferably in chemical/ petrochemical/refinery Utilities

Functional / Behavioural competencies required to execute the role

Knowledge of Utilities -MEDs, SWRO, DM plant, cooling towers, Water Chemistry and Process Engineering calculations

Effective Communication and Presentation skills
